So, I've been on SparkPeople for quite a while and have made several attempts on this site to reach my goal. Each time I start out by getting disgusted with myself, jumping on here for a while, tracking some calories and losing a few pounds only to get sidetracked by any number of things (holidays, weekends, birthdays, too busy, too comfortable after losing a bit, fooling myself into thinking i don't need to track anymore, etc).
I think my downfall has been trying to do it alone. At most I let only a few people know what I'm doing. God forbid I admit that I know I'm fat!
What I've come to realize is this: EVERYONE ELSE KNOWS I'M FAT!! The whole world can see me. I don't live under a rock. So why am I trying to hide that I want to change???
So now I'm telling EVERYONE! When someone at work offers me a cookie, I say "No thanks... I'm on a plan... trying to reach a goal". When my husband brings Dorritos into the house I politely suggest that he must want a fat wife, which quickly gets the temptation out of the house and reminds him of my goals and my need for his support. He can eat those at work. I keep a weight log in my guest bathroom where the scale is. I used to hide it whenever anyone came over because I was embarrased of the high digits. It is now tacked up to the wall and not coming down. Go ahead... take a look! It's just a number. Yep- I weigh that much (but not for long!).
I am now accountable to more people than just myself. And I'm finding that I'm receiving more help, support, and suggestions this way. My friend who comes over often now brings her own salad or eats before she comes rather than suggesting something not-so-good-for-you once she gets here... cause she knows about the plan!
So here we go. It's been a week. Three pounds down and feeling great. Time to do this!

*the next few months i still weighed in, but didn't update on here. i hit a looooong plateau, then in february i took a couple of weeks off completely from exercise and eating right. i started back up March 1, 2011. it was sort of a mental thing for me, since march 1 was when i started last year. also march was when tri training started back up.
so here we go again... time to break outta the 150's!

I live in Austin and I LOVE IT HERE! It's a great city to live in if you're trying to get in shape. There are parks everywhere and all kinds of stuff to do outside. The flip side of that is that we also have a ton of awesome restaurants!

    Thank you for the comment! I agree with you. Slowly I'm starting to get back there again, but it's going to be about finding something new that I love again. The same old stuff just isn't cutting it. Maybe I'll have to look into the weight training as well!

    I have been busy, but really good. I have had an amazing amount of energy lately from the food I have been eating lately. I ended up joining the Southwest Y, because once my week was up I still wanted to go, badly. I have been going to other Yoga Yoga classes too- which location do you go to (when you go)? Which is your favorite class?
    How did you decide to train for a tri? I have been interested in trying it, but I would need a lot of work on my swimming form. And no, we haven't started wedding planning in earnest yet. Soon, though.

    Hi! I am doing well, thanks for asking! I haven't been on here since I have been back, but I have been doing an allergy eating cleanse for about two weeks (with about two weeks more to go), which means I am eating SUPER clean, and I joined the Y with a week's free pass to get out of the heat and workout, while I decide what to do about a gym. I also signed up for a Yoga Yoga foundations class that started last night. I am seeing some serious results, but am not sure how life after the cleanse is going to work. How are YOU doing?
