Making Each Day Count

I'm a 30-something mother of 4. I joined SparkPeople in January 2009. My goal is to monitor my eating and exercise habits, and seeing the results in a slow, sensible pace.

I grew up having Hostess snacks in my lunches (every day), or Little Debbie whatevers. My portions were always double or triple what they should have been.

Over the last two years, I've tried races of various lengths. I just came back from an injury, and hope to make 2011 a good year of healthy ...

Over the last two years, I've tried races of various lengths. I just came back from an injury, and hope to make 2011 a good year of healthy eating and moving my body.
Some of my milestones:

January 2009 - Weight loss begins; lost my first 10 lbs in this month

March 2009 - Heritage 5k - First 5k that I ran in. Previously walked many annual Breast Cancer 5k walks.

April 2009 - 25 lbs down; went from a size 18 to a size 12

May 2009 - Frederick Running Festival Twilight 5k

July 2009 - Rockville Twilight 8k (first 8k!)
Riley's Rumble Half Marathon

October 2009 - Freedom's Run Marathon (last LSD prior to taper) & Marine Corps Marathon

August 2010 - 50 Pounds Lost and SP Goal Weight reached!

For the new year (2010), I attempted a running streak , but health issues stopped it cold before January was over. Drat! However, I still have races for the year. Here is what my events are looking like:

January 2011 - Potomac River Running New Year's Day 5k - 35:35 (ran the whole thing!)

April 2011 - Duathalon

May 2011 - Frederick Running Festival 5k; Devotion to Children 4 miler

Hubby and I are doing Savannah Half at the beginning of November. After that the only race on my horizons is in March.

I'm following Galloway's marathon plan. I used his HM plan & it did me well. So far my sunday long runs have fit well in the spot between getting home from church and returning to church for youth in the evening. I am truly NOT a crack of dawn chick. Not sure what I'm going to do when my long run gets really long!
