I am not new to sparkpeople. I have been here a few times "starting over". Here I am again. Will this time be different? Only time will tell. My weight is not the only issue anymore. I am almost 40 and am beginning to have health issues, both the kind that come with age and also the kind that are simply from poor diet. I am a definate candidate for diabetes and if I can push that off or even prevent it that is what I want to do.

I am hoping that a goal spread over a longer period ...

I am hoping that a goal spread over a longer period of time will decrease the pressure I feel to become "thin right now". I want changes that involve not just counting calories but wiser choices in my eating habits, especially in regards to sugar. well, here I go......

My Goals:
To lose my excess weight and to develop a healthier lifestyle in order to maintain a healthy weight. This means not only eating better but adding excercise to my life!!

My Program:
Tracking my food intake....helps me to make wise choices.

Cardio 6 - 7 days a week.

Strength traning 3 days a week.



Personal Information:
My name is Janel and I am 39 years old. I have been married to my husband for 17 years. We have been together for over 22( more than half my life....). We have 6 wonderful children that I am so grateful to have.
My children, can be crazy somedays but I wouldnt have it any other way :)

Other Information:
We have just moved from big city Winnipeg MB to small city Humboldt SK. I did grow up in small town SK but after 17 years in a big city it has been quite an adjustment!!

Sometimes I forget that my KIDS are city kids even tho James and I were not....LOL.

I miss my Winnipeg friends desparately but I am confident that GOD has moved us here and I am looking forward to what HE will be doing here.

Hi Janel. I actually haven't been counting for three weeks. The Lord wanted me to not step on the scale for it was becoming an idol for me. I also was basing my self-worth on what that thing said...oh how I need to learn to have it with the Lord. So, on my end it is not going well. I am actually not able to eat very much. My stomach is not liking a lot of things. So Bethanie is actually helping me out a little with an idea of how to restart my stomach..intestines. It is called the Leaky Gut diet. I am very nervous for I have not had these kinds of food for a long time. The Lord is needing to be incontrol of it so I am resting in Him. I am hopefully starting that in a month. So until then I am not knowing what to do I basically eat the same thing everyday... so my metabolism is really shot. I am very glad that you have lost and yes it is one day at a time. Don't get too hard on yourself, the Lord will help you every day to crave him more then food. Talk to you again. :)

Hi Janel. Thanks for actually being on this site. No one at church is doing Spark anymore. They are all trying "Trim Healthy Mama". You might want to look into it. I can't do the diet because of all my restrictions. But it seems to be going okay for all of them that are doing it. I am bouncing around too. It doesn't matter anymore what I eat or how much I exercise...I don't lose, I just gain. It has only happened in this last year and I am so discouraged. I miss being 139...oh those were the days. My lovely birthday is in a week and my hopes of being down is lost!...say happy birthday to your husband for me. I remember that we both have April birthdays. Hope all is well with you. You looked pretty content with where the Lord has you. Keep looking to Him for He is the only one that matters....miss you too.

Well, I am proud of you. Usually after having a baby, people aren't ready to try and lose. That is wonderful if you feel that motivated. I am glad for you. I hope you are having a wonderful time with all your kids...you always wanted to have six...what a blessing the Lord has given you. Have a great time on your holidays. We did that for all of May, we went to Florida...what a wonderful time....the Lord stretched Jason and myself. We needed to do a holiday with our kids...Isaiah is going to be thirteen in August...He is growing up so fast...He is five seven already. Take care and keep going with the Lord, He is the only one that can help us with the temptation of food....

Hey Janel...I am here...how are you? Please send a picture of your little girl, I have not seen her yet.. So are you all by yourself on this journey...I am usually by myself so it is nice to have someone to cheer on. I am just trying five pounds at a time. I am thankful to the Lord that I have not gained past three pounds that I eventually get off again. It is truly on the Lord that helps me. I really found help with the book study and videos of "Made to Crave". Would love to hear from you....:)

Thanks Janel for the comment. That meant a lot. It was nice visiting with you too. I miss you guys. The Lord knows what is best. I am getting frustrated with not knowing what to eat being gluten-free....I feel like I am eating the same thing over and over. I looked it up and a year ago I weighed 145...so I have only lost five pounds in one year...I don't know if that is good or not! :(
It is getting harder to lose...I just want to lose 5 or 10 more and then I will maintain. Any ideas on snacks that are low cal that are gluten-free? I would love to hear them....no milk or eggs....:)
