Island Life...

I've been roaming around the country lots since joining SP in 2008. I started out in PA, then moved to VA, then to FL and MA, and now to Hawaii. My husband's job keeps us moving, but I love it. Its how I grew up as a navy brat, its all I know.

We moved to Oahu in July of 2012. This has been a summer of total change for me - my oldest headed to college on the East Coast for the first time, I successfully navigated thyroid surgery and recovery and have set up house yet again in a new town, new schools, etc.

I have gained so much weight back since I lost in 2007 but not quite yet back to the old weight. I am never giving up. I have been battling injury to my ankle, perhaps arthritis or stress from all the weight. Yet, I don't give up completely. There are days I don't do as much, but I have yet to lay in bed and give up.

So, I have hopes that the wonderful weather and attitude here on the island will instill in me a change. To slow down, be more forgiving of myself and patient in my journey toward health. Each day becomes easier and easier.

I am walking in my first race since 2010 in December, the Honolulu 10K with my mother in conjunction with the marathon. I am also walking a 1.5 mi fun run with my daughter in conjunction with an XTERRA event here. This is good motivation to train, even if its just walking! Now where are those darned running shoes...

My Goals:
Run the Honolulu Marathon with my husband in 2015.

Lose 75lbs before the race.

Get a part time or volunteer job when DD starts driving this summer.

Taking several classes at our local gym.

Working with a nutritionist to help me balance my eating.

Using FitBit to track walking and Jeff Galloway's method to work toward running again.
