Chasing Boston from Afghanistan: From 290 to 3:10:47

I joined to stay committed to a healthy lifestyle. After a dreadful Mar 08, I decided to change my life. At 290 lbs, the clock was ticking.

As a result of healthy choices and a running regiment, I lost 130 pounds qualified for the 2011 Boston Marathon.

After qualifying, I am now based in Afghanistan and am a member of the Brooks ID team. You can also find my story through Runner's World here: http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120

Congratulations! Your story is very inspiring and when I read the article in RW, I thought it sounded familiar!! What are you doing in Afghanistan? I hope you are staying safe!

Racing is going great! I finished my first marathon (4 hours!) in January, set a new 10k PR in May and participated in a 6 person, 100 mile relay! No complaints on my end!

I do live in DC! I live on Capitol Hill and work in Silver Spring. How about you?

Would be great to get together for a run... but you're waaaaaayyyy faster that I am!

I was really looking forward to my longer run this weekend, but am afraid we're going to get snowed in! I am so unprepared for running in so much snow and ice. Brrrr!!!

What an amazing honor to be featured in RW! Any reason not to do it? Sounds like a super cool opportunity to me!
