Becoming...ME!

With young twins, one with special needs, life gets harried. I had to stop my gym routines and working out at home is difficult. With young twins, one with special needs, life gets harried. I had to stop my gym routines and working out at home is difficult. Anyway lots of excuses to backslide, its a slippery slope into old habits. I've regained most of what I'd lost. The numbers aren't what bother me, its the shape of my face, and the feel of my body as my weight shifts when I move. I'm not comfortable. My aches and pains are back. My self esteem is down, and all areas of my life need a little SPARK to get moving in a positive direction again. Kids are in full-day school now, *yay* this is my time now, time for me to be a priority.

One step back...two forward. Let's get this party started.

I can Do it... YES I CAN!
No more sitting on the sidelines, I am ready to EMBRACE LIFE - to live an active, healthy, and adventuresome life. I will hike, bike, swim, run, climb, paddle and sail. I am changing my attitude; looking beyond the walls of my home, the walls of my life and am gaining strength, courage and confidence to be active, and healthy. It is not just about me, I do this also for my children. This journey is a new family legacy; one of health and adventure. Growing up, I always pictured a life filled with adventure, it is time to live the life I was meant to and always dreamed of.

I first joined SP a few years ago, but lacked the confidence, time and energy to make a commitment to myself. At that time, we were realizing that both our twin boys had developmental delays and one with intense sensory issues and other challenges; and this consumed my life for quite some time. I struggled for a long time to get a handle on life again.

As 2009 rolled in, I turned 35 and had to renew my drivers license...which meant a new picture. The difference in my picture made me cry. It was time to focus on me.

I started this journey with no confidence of success. I have never been thin, and have always had a poor self-image centered around my weight. But what I am learning is that each day is a NEW DAY, filled with new opportunities. Small changes each day, another step forward.

What I else have I discovered? I enjoy the challenge of working out, and I am rediscovering my dreams and goals I held as a child. I am re-learning how to dream, and rediscovering my passion for adventure. Along the way, I am discovering happiness and confidence.

I have a full life, a blessed life. I have been married to the most patient and wonderful husband for almost 6 years. We met driving our modified Jeeps on offroad courses, a hobby we continue together with our children. Besides Jeeping, other hobbies are scrapbooking (both digital and traditional), camping, hiking, and of course playing on the internet.

I am a member of MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers), MOMS Club, and various Masonic groups (Amaranth, Eastern Star, and Rainbow).

General Goals: I want to be able to run around with my children and to be able to keep up with them. I want to be able to expose them to a healthy, active lifestyle and to teach them how to be active and healthy.

Somewhat-Specific Goals: Hike once a month in the Olympic forest (starting in late-spring, once things are thawed), next summers goal will be to hike to Camp Muir on Mount Rainier. This summer, I will also be sea kayaking with my brother, and will try waterskiing for the first time with friends.

I had to laugh when I saw your post about cleaning out stuff in your yard! We bought a new house last fall, and have just gotten to cleaning out one of the back corners.

Under the blackberry bushes, we found old construction debris, plain old garbage, used diapers, a plastic laundry basket, and all kinds of junk. I suspect that the prior owners did not use a garbage service for a period of time! Unbelievable!

Keep at it! :)
