It's amazing how our goals change. I find myself at the end of a year looking more at improving running times and wearing smaller clothes than what the scale says. I've had great successes this year in both areas, and this journey has taken on a whole new feel.

The Spring 5% Challenge was a success! I lost 7.8 pounds (approx 3.5%) and had a great time! So for the summer challenge I've decided to help out as a leader! It will keep me honest. :)

5% is approximately 10.5 pounds. I look forward to continued success!

Okay, so I've joined my first challenge here on Spark! The Spring 5% Challenge (can you believe I've been here over 4 years and never done one? Geez!)

My goals are to:
Keep calories/fat/protein within range 6 days/week
Exercise at least 5 days/week
Check in with my team at least once per day
Be motivating to others!

Here we go!!!

It's hard for me to say what my "plan" is. These days if I make it through the day sane I count it in the win column!

Being a full time student on top of full time work is a challenge. I graduate in August, though, and I refused to wait until then to take care of myself! Those late-night study sessions can wreak havoc on the body and mind if we let them!

I do want to lose weight - but more than that, I want to feel good! My knees do much better when I am active and not eating junk.

My Goals:
My goals are always to be healthy and happy - running, hiking, eating well, etc. Doesn't matter!



My Program:
I run at least 3 times per week, strength train 2-3 times per week.

These days if my body says "rest", I rest, but I'm itching to get back to it the next day!

Personal Information:
I work as a revenue analyst for a software company and spend my free time being the world's best auntie to the cutest boy ever. (No, I'm not biased. Go look at my pics. He's irresistible.)

I bailed on the membership at The Club. It was the one unsatisfactory personal trainer experience.

Remind me which gym you go to so I don't consider moving my membership from the Y to where ever you go where the sadists are the trainers.

Hey, I just thought I'd better mention that I use Basque chorizo in that soup. It is more of a firm, dry sausage. The few times I've tried cooking Mexican chorizo it just melts into a greasy, nasty mess. If you can't get Basque chorizo, I'd use andouille or linguica instead. Enjoy!

I just watched "Fathead." Have you seen it? Very interesting. Pretty much follows everything I've been reading over the past 5 years about how saturated fat was demonized and grains and low-fat touted as healthy and they were wrong, oh so wrong. I think I may be starting to try to get my carbs under 100 g ;)
