This little man is how I remind myself what I'm working for.
When I found SparkPeople, I knew it was the site for me.
I'd been wanting to lose weight, but I was tired of "fad" diets and knew that I wanted to make a lifestyle change, not just "diet." I knew then, and continue to remind myself, that I'm not looking for a quick fix- I want something long term that isn't just about size but also about good habits.
The SparkPeople site seemed to fit into all of these ideals. So far, I've had some discouragement, simply because I would like to see faster results on the scale, but despite that, I also have gained some great confidence in the progress I have made because I can see the results with the nutrition and goal trackers. Even when my scale doesn't budge for a week, I see that I'm eating more fruit, drinking more water and cutting back on my candy intake and feel a sense of accomplishment that I don't think I would find by simply dieting.
I want to be a good mother and, to me, that doesn't just mean kiss boo-boos, buying the newest cool toy, or being active in the PTA. I want to be able to take active part in his life by having the energy to play with him, I want to be an example of good choices, and I want to be around for years to come by being a healthier me.
Here is the beginning and progress of my journey to get there.
I want to feel better about myself, know that I can walk into a regular store and buy "off the rack" and have the energy to play more with my son.
I want to learn to eat right- when and what I should eat- for the rest of my life, not just until I reach my goal.

Every giant leap forward is in reality a series of baby steps. For every major breakthrough you see in your performance, donít forget all the hundreds of little things that had to happen, day after day, for that to happen. Habits are the basis of improvement, but they donít happen overnight. The easiest Ė and most difficult Ė way to improve your life is to make or break a habit. Itís easy because habits are built one single action at a time. Itís difficult because you need to be consistent. Itís much more of a mental game than a physical challenge. If you donít see progress right away, donít be discouraged. In fact, some of the habits you have right now have been a lifetime in the making and repeating. They can be as stubborn as a mule. It might take some coaxing to get them to move.

First off I wanna say hello, I'm Kristina aka Kris from Fresno, CA. I see you are a member on the SP Fresno - Official Team. I know it's been quite slow and VERY quiet for quite some time which had probably not helped a lot of people, but me and 1 of the co-leaders are trying to get more action on the team! Are you interested in your goals, or are you fully committed? One of the most common complaints among goal setters nowadays is that thereís just not enough time to get to the ones that ďreally matter.Ē The real culprit is that most people donít raise their goals beyond the level of general interest. Theyíre waiting for a vague time in the future when other things wonít get in the way or when they wrap things up. In other words, when itís more convenient. And of course, that time never comes, does it? If your goals are truly that important to you, donít let anything stand in your way. You have the power to say Ďnoí and to set your priorities. Make that commitment and you automatically create an obligation that youíre bound to fulfill.

Hey There! You left me a comment almost a month ago and I am just now getting back to you, mainly because I was so incredibly crazy busy in March that I couldn't keep up with tracking and coming on SP! How have you been doing? Today I am gonna start C25K. I am a bit nervous but excited as well. I am ready to see some more weight come off. I have been at a stand still too long. What do you do for exercise?
