In search of my hip bones...
So far on my weight loss journey, I have located my collar bones, wrists, ribs, and ankles. But where the heck are my hip bones? They are still hiding! May 2011: If one year of law school made me gain 30 pounds, what's gonna happen by the time I am done with all 3 years???!! Starting over, again, and trying to feel fortunate that I didn't gain it all back (plus 10) like usual. Still searching for my hip bones :) Jan 2010: I decided it is time to change my intro!! ...
Original intro is below. I have always been overweight, as long as I can remember. I tried diets, but they never worked. Well, they didn't work because I didn't really stick with it, not even for a week. I just thought I was destined to be fat forever, and there was no point in trying to change it. In 2006, I took a vacation to Costa Rica with my family for my brothers wedding. We spent 3 weeks eating fruit and fish, walking daily, and hiking in the jungles. I lost 8 pounds in those 3 weeks without even trying. Once I got home, I realized that a healthy lifestyle felt so much better! Soon after that, I met my future husband and it was, literally, love instantly. I started working out at Curves and trying to 'eat less'. I stumbled upon SparkPeople one day while looking up the amount of calories in some food. That, too, was love instantly :) I have been hooked ever since! I have lost 75 pounds, and feel like a whole new person. I run and lift weights and do yoga. I park far away and feel neglected when I don't get enough veggies in a day. I have more self-esteem and confidence than ever before. I was just accepted to my top choice law school (I will start in Fall 2010), and before Spark I would never have been confident enough to attempt that! Spark has, in so many ways, changed my life forever. If I can be an inspiration to just one person, then all the sweat and sore muscles and hard work is worth it! Feel free to message or friend me - I LOVE new Spark friends!!! Original intro: April 2007: I am less than a year away from my 30th birthday, and I am determined to be in the best shape of my life on that day! No matter how much weight I lose or what size I wear, I will be happy as long as I am healthy and fit and feel good! Update 3/31: Ok, I passed my 30th birthday, and didn't quite meet my goal (total lost to date: 52 pounds). But, I accept it because I am still going (pretty) strong. I am in good shape, but I still have quite a bit of weight to go. Maybe my 31st birthday? :) Update 9/1: One month after getting the Bodybugg, I have lost over 5 pounds - goodbye evil plateau!! I am in LOVE with this little gadget! Also, I am preparing to take the LSAT (Law school admission test) in October, and am VERY VERY nervous about it! Wish me luck! Update 1/2009: Phew, this holiday season was a whirlwind!! I finished the LSAT - didn't do as well as I had hoped, but definitely acceptable. I have done a lot of traveling the past 2 months, both for work and fun. We spent Christmas in the Dominican Republic, which was amazing and relaxing and loads of fun. But, I am glad to be back to normal life, dinners at home, and nightly workouts. I joined the New Year, New You bootcamp and I love it. Coach Nicole's videos are awesome. Even my boyfriend loves to do them, and he is very uncoordinated (and lazy!) Update 8/2009: Lots of changes in my life! I got married, quit my job, bought a house for the first time, and moved across the country with my husband to North Carolina. I have been here about a month, and we are still trying to get settled in. All the chaos has led to a poor workout routine, but I am getting back on track lately. Trying to make that scale keep moving down!!!

My Goals:
Lose about 50 more pounds. Run a marathon. Wear cute clothes! DONE Be able to love my legs. Have endless energy! DONE
My Program:
My main cardio is running and walking. I am quite slow, but persistent!! I also use kettlebells and a few DVD's. I try to be more active in my daily life - parking farther away, pacing while on the phone, taking the stairs, etc. Every calorie counts! I still track all my food - very important! I cook every night, and bring leftovers for lunch every day. This keeps me away from a lot of bad stuff :) I have lots of fun - I laugh at myself, play with my dogs, and love life every day! I don't regret anything from my life - I simply try to learn from my mistakes and move on. This is as important as diet and exercise, for me.
Personal Information:
I am 31, live in N. Carolina, and am a first year law student. I have the most amazing husband, and I am grateful for him each and every day! I have 2 crazy dogs that love to run (and are my motivation many days) and between my husband and I, we have three cats. Our house is starting to resemble a zoo!
Other Information:
I am insanely happy. The more I work toward my goals, the happier I get! I feel so blessed to have such a great life, and be surrounded by such great people. Basically, I am that crazy happy girl that is always smiling that you sometimes want to slap...
