OLDER BUT BETTER

Over 70? Unbelievable! I can't help getting older but I can work at getting better. Part of that process is finally making myself eat what is good for me instead of what I like best.

My Goals:
SparkPeople has given me a goal of 12 pounds to lose by September 9th. I don't think I'll really make that goal. I may change the date to November or December. I think a slow weight loss is better for older people. The skin doesn't have the elasticity it used to have and takes time to tighten up.

My Program:
My goal is to eat right and exercise so I can continue to be active in my old age. Hard to believe it's already here but where there's life there's hope and I'm hoping to lose weight and learn to exercise.

Personal Information:
My real name is Sharon. JAQUANAH is just my name in Cherokee. It is pronounced Juh-Kwah-nuh. A worker at Sequoyah's home in Oklahoma showed me the name using the Cherokee syllabary. Sequoyah invented a syllabary, which is not an alphabet but symbols to represent sounds, so the Cherokee could have a written language. The username JAQUANAH is a tribute to my Cherokee heritage.

Hi Shareon...love your bead work. You have so many beautiful projects.

Just had to thank you for your wonderful answer about keeping the house clean enough to keep the Dept. of Health away. I laughed so hard...you are such a great lady. Just have to tell you how much I appreciate you!!

By the way, you do not look 70!! emoticon

It was been a very hot, humid week. I think all of us are going through the heat. This week has been my first week back at work. I cannot believe tomorrow is Friday!

4th of July was a work day for me. I spent several hours in a 102 degree kitchen at McDonalds. No, I did not over eat this 4th of July. Instead I drank lots of water. So I am hoping that I lost some weight this week. Also, I sure was sweating in that kitchen too.

I am getting ready for our exchange student. It is so hot but I need to get the house in shape for out home visit. It will be done before the end of July. No doubt, I am going to be one busy person.

What are your plans for July?

Thanks for the welcome back Sharon, it's good to see you again too!
Hope you're enjoying as nice weather as we have been . . . we're in a heat wave at the moment but only for another day or so.
Take care, see you on the team!
