Hi, my name is Jan
1/5/09 - Starting over, again!
I have decided to adjust my goals for 2009.
This time, my main goal is to get healthy by making small changes in my eating & exercising habits.
I have alway been a all or nothing kind of person. When I first started Spark, I tried to change everything!
I tried to totally gave up my number one weakness - Pepsi. - I failed.
I vowed to exercise every day, no matter what. - I failed.
I tried to completely change the types of food I eat. - I failed.
I just couldn't keep up with it. It was too much all at once. I had set myself up for failure. And sure enough I failed.
When I first started, I lost 10 lbs. I have since gained back 5 of those lbs.
So, for 2009, I'm not going to concetrate on losing weight, although it would be great. I am going to cut back on the pepsi I drink by drinking more water, eat more fruits & veggies and exercise at least 3 times a week.
Once, I have made these a habit, I will move on to other goals.
9/22/08 - Update
I started out strong back in February. But, there were other factors at work then, too. I totally gave up Pepsi (one of biggest weaknesses) for Lent. We had a Biggest Loser Contest at work. And I was new to SP & was going to change my whole lifestyle.
Problem was, it was too much at once. I couldn't keep it up. Especially, with life happening. There have been birthday parties, graduation parties, family reunion, illnesses, injuries, etc since I started.
Something had to give, & what gave was my complete lifestyle change.
I've gained back 3 of the pounds I lost, I think (I need to weigh myself to be sure - I'll do that & log it).
So, I've decided to start over!! And this time it will be baby steps.
I'm going to set new goals & take it slower. Maybe that way I can stick to it. Because, I really did feel better when I ate right & exercised regularly and lost some weight. I had more energy. I slept better at night & felt more rested during the day. I want that back - for good!!
So here goes.......... I'm baaaaack !!
- Drink more water & less pepsi
- Eat more fruits & veggies
- Get some form of exercise at least 3 days a week
1/2 hr step aeorbics at least 3 days a week
1/2 hr light weights at least 2 days a week
Walk when the weather permits
Play with my grandsons whenever possible
