Striving for Health

I lost 50 lbs. with Weight Watchers. Got off Cholesterol and blood pressure meds. Then got Rheumatoid Arthritis, had 2 should repair surgeries when my bones cut through my rotator cuffs, and my weight loss came to a stand still, but for 2 years have kept that weight off. Now I'm using Spark People and getting results again. Still struggling with pain, medications, etc., but grateful and determined.

add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee."

Hi Janis, I can't tell you enough how thankful I am for both of your comment on the RA message bds, which both of your responses were from messages I had put on. I just had to add you because of it. I feel so much more confidence now that this Humira will start working one day. My next appt. with my Rheumy is on April 22nd and I'm already worried that it won't kick in before then. I had pretty much lost all hope for any biologic to work until you wrote! I've gotten so fed up with pain every day, to the point where I can't work out like others can. I get on my recumbent bike as long as I can in a day, which i know helps lots. I'm so looking forward to getting off prednisone, plaquenil, leflunomide, if possible. My skin has gotten as thin as an old lady's and I'm only 54! I was surprised when I read that you could still take Aleve. My Rhemy absolutely said no. I had had another Rheumy before this current one and then he retired, and the one that had retired would let me be on Aleve and I was up to 6/day with tylenol and still hurt to beat the band! Well, we're under the watchful eye of our physicians, so we have to have faith in how they care for us. I've lost 67# with gaining 12 back. I am so sick about that, I could cry, but I also know that part of it is because I eat wrong sometimes. But I too know that these drugs cause weight gain. I guess we just have to work harder at getting it off! Ugh! Oh, I have to tell you that when I read your reply about having to wait 3 months for the Humira to kick in, I cried and cried and my husband asked what happened. I told him and he said that I should be happy and I said that I was and that I was crying because of being happy. So see what you did for me! Thank you Janis, for making my day! Feel free to add me back. I can use all the help and support I can get. We're in this together!! Hugs to you, Karen
