A New Challenge

My name is Jan. I have been a member of Sparkpeople since December 30, 2009. I was very proud to have reached my goal.
However, I am embarrassed to say that I have returned to my old ways and need to get back to keeping my logs.
This IS the best fitness sight out there, but you have to use it!!
I am looking forward to reconnecting with old friends and new friends alike!

Personal Information:
My name is Jan and I lived all my life in Northeast Ohio until I met my husband and moved to Kansas in June, 2011. (See my blog). I love the outdoors and enjoy all the scenes that Nature paints. I am a wildlife enthusiast and a "tree-hugger". I love listening to all genres of music. I look forward to exploring nature while hiking, kayaking, birdwatching and biking with Greg.

Other Information:
I love being outdoors and enjoy the changing seasons. I love
birdwatching, hiking, gardening, reading, sewing, playing with my granddaughter, and walking our dog,McGee, and my two cats, Clover and Willow. Most of all, I like sharing all of this with my husband and best friend, Greg!

It seems like many of us face continual battle to stay positive when little progress is apparent. We just have to keep in mind that we our efforts will result in a healthier life. We need to focus on how we are feeling and the energy we have to accomplish daily life tasks. I’m working hard to concentrate on my health rather than just on the number on the scale; to concentrate on non-scale victories to help me stay positive every day.

Nothing too new going on With me. I am so sorry about Keystone. I know you guys were looking to add another dog have you done that at all? McGee would love a buddy, yes? I have been doing a few snow hikes & just love it, sure beats hiking in the heat. Can you snow shoe where you are ? Hiking in the snow is such a good work. To be honest, I am laying with the heating pad sore from the last one. emoticon

I’m on day 10 of changing my life and this is definitely a difficult journey. I am not a good decision maker and tend to opt for immediate gratification and comfort. I am struggling with making mindful decisions about the food I eat or don’t eat. I am not doing as well as I should be in that area although I have consistently gotten in exercise minutes each day. I was looking for quotes to motivate myself to think before making any decision and these two caught my eye. I think the messages they contain are both so important to us all!
I hope you are staying healthy and active as we enter this new year of new choices and new successes.
