And I couldn't have done it without SparkPeople, Curves, Spin Classes and all the wonderful and motivating people on here! The stakes are high for me with my love of food, genetics, and hypothyroidism allowing me to easily gain weight. If I let my guard down, I gain. To loose first 52 pounds, I diligently counted each and every calorie I ate and burned for 52 weeks. I didn't just workout once a day, I worked out twice a day. So to maintain all that I have accomplished, I run, I race, I spin, I do yoga, I hike, I strength train, I ride my bike, and I look for new and exciting things to keep me motivated. I will not go back to my size 16s, nor can I because I donated them all to charity last year along with my 14s, 12s, 10s and anything else that said XL. ____________________________________ Keeping active helps this Weight-Loss Junkie maintain her hard earned weight loss. My Program:
My Wake-up Call was April 2007, when I stepped onto the scale at the gym and it read 1-9-0. No way am I one hundred ninety pounds! I'd been going to the gym for 4 months at night and I wasn't getting anywhere, in fact I'd gained 10 pounds! I switched to strength training in the mornings which motivates me to eat healthier throughout the day. I count my calories and keep within my range. I added cardio workouts to help break my 1-8-5 barrier by taking up spinning, hiking and doing dvds at home (My favorites are Turbo Jam: Booty Sculpt and Abs and Sara Ivanhoe's Fat Burning Yoga and her 20 min Yoga series)
Personal Information:
Running has become my new passion. I had no idea that I could run but after a year of taking spin classes, hiking, strength training, doing yoga, mat pilates, and walking, I discovered on an Easter hike with friends that I could indeed run. A week later another friend handed me a flyer for a charity 10K. So I got on a treadmill to see what I was made of, and ran 2 straight miles to my surprise. I ran my first race on August 2, 2008. A really fun 10K called the Underwear Affair in Los Angeles. I trained for four months to run the 6.2 miles and finished 1:03:22 after having a severe chest cold the weekend before. Nothing was going to stop me from running that race. It was one of the most amazing things I have ever done in my life. And it has prompted me to continue running and to pursue running Half Marathons.
Other Information:
I also battle hypothyroidism. I was diagnosed in 2001 and take a daily thyroid hormone supplement to balance everything out.
