Loves to Kayak

Hi. My name is Jan Keiser. My husband, Kim, and I love to kayak. We were kayaking in Alaska a couple of years ago on our honeymoon and loved the scenery and adventure. I'm working at losing weight so I can stay strong and limber enough to continue kayaking, and fit into my dry suit, as I get older.

My Goals:
My goals are to eat healthy and exercise consistently. I've been trying to lose the same 20 pounds for years. I now realize I'm a binger- I'll eat healthy one day and unhealthy the next. I'll run 3 miles one day and nothing for days. I'm striving for consistency.

My Program:
I eat vegan most of the time, in part, for health reasons and in part, for environmental reasons. Plus, I'm building consistency into my daily routine using Spark People to track daily progress. Even 10 minutes of exercise is useful and gains points!

Personal Information:
I grew up in Alaska and have always been very active. I ran road races, hiked and bicycled for fun. As I got older and busier, these things became harder to do and the pounds crept up. I'm 52 now and want to stay strong and limber as I get older so I can stay active.

Other Information:
My husband is an avid SparkPeople member and is my biggest motivator.

I started last June and by using Spark and some self discovery in the process, I'm down 25 pounds, and am holding steady at a healthy weight.
