My goals to be met by the time of my annual doctor visit in September 2017:
1. Lose 18 lbs.
2. Have a fasting blood sugar below 100.

17 in 2017
1. Try kettlebells.
2. Read 6 books related to health.
3. Try a paczki. 2/24/17 I had never tried one because of the powdered sugar but they are so iconic. I had a lemon filled paczki and it was delicious though I'm still not fond of the powdered sugar. Good thing they're only available for a few days each year.
4. Pie at Norske Nook.
5. Hot stone massage.
6. Play cards at the Senior Center.
7. Try an ABC Sudoku. 1/30/17 I see they also make a color Sudoku so I'll have to give that a try too. 1/30/17 Decided to try the color one right away so I could put off dusting. It was fun but I wasn't fond of the app so I think I'll just give that one up. Sudoku is addicting enough for me. I don't really need a bunch of different types.
8. Make garden art.
9. Make a button bracelet.
10. Acquaint myself with our brand new library. It opened in November 2016 and I haven't made the time to visit it yet. Got my visit in on 1/24/17. I need to participate in their adult programming more. So many interesting things going on there.
11. Try a mug cake.
12. Make 17 new recipes. January: I tried slow cooker recipes for pea soup and broccoli cheese soup which I currently make on the stove but didn't prefer either.
13. Participate in the library's Winter Reading Program. 2/27/17 I turned my reading list in with one day left in the program. I didn't get any bingos but I did read or listen to 6 books between January 22 and February 28. I got six tickets to put in the prize boxes and I even won a prize. I won a gift certificate to use at the mall.
14. Participate in the library's Book Club. 3/27/17
15. Complete Master Gardener Level 2 Training.

Lose 20 lbs.

My Program:
Eat a healthier diet -- with an emphasis on fruits and vegetables.

Walk/bike/Spark videos for a total of 120 fitness minutes per day.

Personal Information:
I live in Central Wisconsin. I retired from my job as a speech therapist for a local school district in June 2008. Then I worked part time until June 2012. Now I am fully retired. I have been married for 35 years. We only have fur kids. Mostly we've owned dogs but in November 2013 we decided to give a kitty a chance. Tony is quite an experience.

Other Information:
I love to read, cross stitch and crochet. My favorite thing to do is to walk the dogs. My husband was diagnosed with celiac disease in January 2011 so we have had to change the way we cook and eat. For the most part, it has been a positive change. He has other health problems that limit his mobility so I care for him as needed. I also share the care for my aging father and my stepmother who has dementia.

Oh, that is fabulous, Janet!! I love your meditation imagery!! And, yes, there's probably not a lot they can do right now except let your body heal. I'm so glad you are taking care of you with the meditation. Such a great thing to do!!

    Hang in there!!

That bee foraging lab is one of my very favorites. The local park where we do it is a very pretty place and because we're watching bees, the weather has to be relatively warn and not raining. Otherwise the bees stay home. We do some other outside labs as well, but with those there's no guarantee that the weather will be nice. Sometimes we've gone out to do them in the rain and/or cold. But with this one we can use the bees as our excuse to reschedule :-). Had to do that this year. We were supposed to go out last Monday but Irma was lurking, so conditions were chilly and rather breezy.

At any rate, it also puts lots of steps on my Fitbit. Over 15,000 this Monday.

How is your recovery going? I imagine it's going to take awhile, but I hope that you're feeling relatively stronger.

Bear and Tigger send Tony their regards. I hope he's behaving himself. Hugs!

Yes progress for your walking time. Awesome news. Walking outside always makes me feel better. So happy for you that you can walk with the stick. Keep healing dear friend.

My 2 PT therapist are so proud of my progress since they saw me 5 days ago. I think this Thursday will be my last time, not sure. They are so kind to everyone. When I finish I'm going to send them a fruit basket. Is that a good idea?

    Hugs for your healing time.
