My goals to be met by the time of my annual doctor visit in July 2016:
1. Lose 20 lbs.
2. Have a fasting blood sugar below 100.

I also plan to accomplish these 16 things in 2016. This is my third year of doing a list and I love them. Some of the items have been on the list before. Either I didn't get to them or I like them enough to do an encore. As always, I reserve the right to change any item on the list for any reason. The goal is and will be to just do new things or things in a new way.

1. Have my palm read.
2. Try a new type of yoga. Yoga Nidra class started 1/19/16
3. Make a wine kit. I got one for Christmas 2014 and haven't had an opportunity to make it. I will in 2016!!
4. Take an essential oils class. 4/2/16
5. Learn enough German to read a children's book. I'll give this another opportunity on the list.
6. Pie at Norske Nook.
7. Make soap. 4/3/16 I made a kit that I had purchased from Amazon. I used a glycerin base and it was quite easy. In retrospect, I wish I had not bothered with the dye. I am hoping I did not add too much scent. It came with lavender and I used about half of the small vial.
8. Play cards at the senior center. Ours was demolished in 2015 but I found out they are meeting at the mall.
9.Tour a cranberry bog at harvest.
10. Try geocaching.
11. Take a painting class. They are offering classes now where a teacher takes you through making a picture step by step. All experience levels are acceptable. We'll see if no talent is acceptable. 2/11/16 The class was so much fun and I am amazed at what the teacher coaxed out of us.
12. Teach Tony a trick. Thank you EABL81 for the idea. It will definitely be more challenging to teach the cat than it was to teach the dogs.
13. See the Northern Lights.
14. Try adult coloring. Bought a book in January and sat down to color for the first time 2/9/16. It is relaxing.
15. Volunteer in a new way. When I imagined this one, I forgot that I would begin doing my volunteer time for Master Gardeners. I've signed up to work in two places, one is at the zoo and the other is a garden area in a parking lot. I have to complete 24 volunteer hours by the end of October and I got my first few hours 4/6/16 when I volunteered to help count seeds to make packets for the Children's Festival in late April.
16. Visit a new Wisconsin city. An oldie but a goodie.

Personal Information:
I live in Central Wisconsin. I retired from my job as a speech therapist for a local school district in June 2008. Then I worked part time until June 2012. Now I am fully retired. I have been married for 30+ years. We only fur kids. Mostly we have owned dogs but in November 2013 we decided to give a kitty a chance. Tony is quite an experience.

Other Information:
I love to read, cross stitch and crochet. My favorite thing to do is to walk the dogs. My husband was diagnosed with celiac disease in January 2011 so we have had to change the way we cook and eat. For the most part, it has been a positive change. He has other health problems that limit his mobility so I care for him as needed. I also share the care for my aging father and my stepmother who has dementia.

hi! brush strokes are such an important part of painting. if you look at any expressionist or impressionist work you will understand why. van gogh is a good example-and here is another, modern painter to whom brushwork is everything:
he is a friend of mine and I have two prints of his hanging in my house. so if you are doing your brushwork well without trying, you are on your way to being a painter! if you want to read an interesting and very instructive book about painting (there are a zillion of them) I highly recommend "painting light and shadow in watercolor" by skip Lawrence. I know you aren't working in watercolor--it doesn't matter. I read this book and then copied a lot of the paintings just to help understand the concepts. you can do exactly the same thing using acrylic, oil or even colored pencil--even a single charcoal pencil and one colored pencil. what this book taught me is how to INTERPRET what I see. I have a lot of art books and painting books, but there are only a handful that actually taught me broad concepts that were really helpful. this book is one of them. even if you just read it, it will help you understand some of the concepts of painting better. hope your day goes okay today!

Hi Janet, I guess that your step-mom's moving is inevitable now since it takes two of you to help her. Have her doctor look at the arm and the right side. I know that Erik's right side is still sensitive when someone grabs it to "guide" him somewhere. For him I related it to his paralysis from the accident...Just thinking if she had a minor stroke or something there might be some after effects.
Glad you and dad are taking time to straighten things out. It's easier when people are still well.
I continue to pray for you and your family.
