Ready To Run!

I attend Rutgers-Newark, where I'm working to earn my masters in Jazz History and Research at the Jazz Institute there. I just moved to New York City (Manhattan - Harlem - Sugar Hill) and so far, I love it here. I live with my husband of 2 months, Ryan, and our roommate and my dear friend, Henry.

I love my husband, Ryan. He and I have been together for 3 years now, and we're so lucky to have found each other. He's a musician as well, and also a member of our Armed Forces.

My brother and I are the only ones in our family with weight issues - my mom, sister, father, etc. have been slim (though not necessarily fit) their entire lives. My brother and I are fighting the good fight together. My mom thinks it's weird/interesting that we have to work out to stay in shape - she's always been naturally athletic/fit - but you gotta do what you gotta do, you know? If I don't monitor my diet closely and make an effort to work out, I gain weight. It's just a simple fact. So - I'm going to monitor my diet closely and make an effort to work out!!

At my biggest, I was up to 190ish (I avoided the scale in those days - sometime around my 3rd year of college). My ultimate goal is 125 - I haven't been that weight since middle school (or before?) and I have no idea what I'll look like, but I'll keep the pictures coming!!

My Goals:
My goal is to lose 60 lbs by my 27th birthday: October 23, 2013. I've got a little over a year...

I'm on my way!

My Program:
I'm running 3-4 times a week (ideally about 15 miles), trying to be more active in my daily life, and strength-training 2-3 times a week, depending on my schedule. I've never really been in shape, but I intend to change that.

I also make an effort to stay within my calorie range and meet my nutritional goals every day. Sometimes the nutrients are hard to obtain, but I'm doing pretty good with the calories!!

Personal Information:
I'm from a small town in the middle of Texas and I loved it there.

Now, I live in New York City with my husband and we're doing our best to make it in the city on our own.
