The New Me!

After 47 years of being overweight I'm changing my habits. No more 5000 calorie days. My lifetime peak has been 250 lbs. I was over 230 when my doctor put me on insulin and told me to go to the gym 5 times a week. I've been going or exercising every day since August 27,2010, or 7 weeks as of this writing. I'm preparing most of my own foods, drink very little soda, reducing my meat, and avoiding processed foods and gravitating towards fresh and whole foods where possible. I've also been tracking ...

I'm preparing most of my own foods, drink very little soda, reducing my meat, and avoiding processed foods and gravitating towards fresh and whole foods where possible. I've also been tracking my food and exercise with the Lose It app and website (loseit.com) which is great. Currently I'm about 216-218 with a goal weight of 188.

My Goals:
My goal is to lose weight, get fit, and get off all medications. I currently take meds for diabetes, cholesterol, hypertension and also use insulin to control my blood sugar. My blood pressure has already become excellent due to daily workouts and reducing my excess fat and carbs.

My Program:
Currently I exercise every day. Most days are "gym" days, where I do an average of 45 minutes on the elliptical. I do strength training on alternate days and am adding some stretching and abdominable exercises as well. I occasionally skip the gym and mountain bike instead.

Personal Information:
I'm an NC boy. Like Laura INgalls I live in the little house in the big wood. THe woods aren't even that big, but it is private and my own little slice of heaven.
