My Goals:
My goals have been evolving. I have been doing regular exercise for the past year, and while my waistline has shrunk what I seem to think is a minimal amount, my health has improved tenfold. I ran my first 5k this fall, ran a 4 mile race on Thanksgiving and my pulse has dropped from being in the mid 90's to a pretty steady low 70's. However...

My next goal is to look good at my parents renewal of vows in Vegas for their 30th wedding anniversary in March. I need to start doing SMART exercising and SMART eating to get to the next level.

My Program:
To take my healthy lifestyle to the next level, I need to start being smart (not impulsive) about my program. I want to keep up the 5 days a week of 30-45 minutes of cardio...but I want to start adding strength training to the mix. In addition to this, I want to start reading/learning what foods and fuels will help me facilitate the lifestyle I want. I'm not in this just to lose a million dollars...time and wisdom has shown me that there is a better way to do this and I need to have the reserve and strength to do it the right way and not fall back into starvation and excruciating exercise to accommodate a quick (but temporary) result.

Personal Information:
I'm a mom first and foremost. I spent time pretending to be the person I wanted my daughter to see me as, and slowly, I became that person. I'm also a (pseudo) housewife and a career lady. Jack of all trades. ;)

...but really, aren't we all? :)

"I will go in this way, and I'll find my own way out." - DMB, #41

I am so going to need some guidance just on how to use this site :) But I've already started eating less at dinner by switching to a little salad plate instead of the bigger dinner plate!

Aud - you should check out the Running Girls United team. They have a lot of great information. Dig in the Questions & Answers forum. You can ask anything - I love it!

Welcome, Audrey to Maine Connections. You will find that the team members are lots of fun and very supportive. There will be a gathering of some of the team later this month. We are planning to meet at Paneras in Augustq. Check out the thread on this. Also, do join us on the Daily Chat.
