50+ and loving it

Turning 50 was an unexpectedly happy and enlightening time, as I decided to take back control of my life. I didn't plan it in advance, it just suddenly felt like the right moment. I've changed many things already and my confidence is growing, but my body shape remains resolutely stuck and this seems to be the major factor in reducing/obliterating my self-confidence. My Goals:
Be fit and active.
Strengthen relationships with good friends.
Feel comfortable in my own body.
Keep my integrity in all areas of life.



My Program:
SHORT TERM:
Exercise daily for at least 10 minutes (allowing 1 day off weekly without going into crisis).
Plan and track nutrition daily and eat within the guidelines.
Drink 8 cups of water daily.

MEDIUM TERM
Increase exercise time/intensity for cardio.
Start reps/sets for strength training and so at least 3 times per week.
Surround myself with positve people who push me forwards, not drag me down



Other Information:
My favourite novel of all time is "A Fine Balance" by Rohinton Minstry. Inspiring, yet tragic. By the last page I didn't know whether to laugh or cry - I did both. A quote from the book: "You see, you cannot draw lines and compartments, and refuse to budge beyond them. Sometimes you have to use your failures as stepping-stones to success. You have to maintain a fine balance between hope and despair."
