http://www.j3nn.net I'm a shy nerd and a feisty chick. I like Hello Kitty band-aids and gangster movies. I listen to Beethoven and Eminem. I will spontaneously travel 150 miles to visit a store or stay at home like a hermit for 3 months in a row. I like broccoli, spinach, tomatoes, and cheesy pizza chased by fudgy brownies. I enjoy splurging on Gucci purses and using "$0.75 cents off" coupons at grocery stores. I like cars and flowers, heavy metal and Elvis, lemons and cupcakes, video games and reading, cats and dogs, computers and Roman history, classic TV shows and Sponge Bob. I'm not a mathematician, but I'm a problem solver. I work hard when I have to and play hard when I want to. I still like playing with toys and going to the zoo with my husband as much as I like to visit the museum or go to a 5 star restaurant. I take my health and weight loss seriously most of the time and forgive myself when I don't. I don't follow a conventional weight loss plan. I took a little from here and there to come up with my own version -- and it's working very well for me. I personally do not think most people have to subsist on only 1200 calories a day to lose weight. I believe that people should eat good, whole foods as much as possible and eat at or close to their maintenance calories for their desired weight/activity level. That's how it becomes a lifestyle and not just a temporary diet. I plan on staying on my diet for the rest of my life because it's reasonable and enjoyable. When people want to lose 2, 3 or more lbs per week, they are forgetting about maintaining it afterwards. I'm taking it slow and steady -- I'm no longer in a hurry. So I'm content with losing .5lb to 2lbs a week... whatever it is, it is. I look at my monthly averages and losses, not daily or even weekly. I turned it into a game and I'm looking forward to playing it for the rest of my life. Losing weight and being on a weight loss diet is no longer a punishment; health and better eating habits are my reward. My stats: ---------- 28 years old, female 5'3" and half Starting weight: 319lbs June 2007 Current weight: 224.6lbs May 2008 Goal weight: 160, maybe 150lbs, eventually 135lbs Check out my diet blog at: http://www.j3nn.net for my daily menus and food pics. I update it everyday. ----------- I'm easy to get along with... if I like you LOL. Joking aside, I really enjoy visiting SparkPeople for the great articles and forums. “Because of media hype and woefully inadequate information, too many people nowadays are deathly afraid of their food, and what does fear of food do to the digestive system? … I, for one, would much rather swoon over a few thin slices of prime beefsteak, or one small serving of chocolate mousse, or a sliver of foie gras than indulge to the full on such nonentities as fat-free gelatin puddings.” “The pleasures of the table — that lovely old-fashioned phrase — depict food as an art form, as a delightful part of civilized life. In spite of food fads, fitness programs, and health concerns, we must never lose sight of a beautifully conceived meal.” From “The Way To Cook,” written by Julia Child and published in 1989.
To be as healthy as possible.
I don't follow a specific plan, I just count calories.
