Hope & Glory

I've never been skinny, but I know how it feels to be healthy. I would like to get back to that and have more energy for life and caring for my husband and 5 year old. Sometimes it's tough being 42 with a kindergartener to chase after! I would at least like a decent chance to catch up with her! I am also a visual artist. I have ink on my nose in the first picture.

My Goals:
One of my goals is to be able to go to the pool with my daughter this summer. Most of the time the thought just makes me cringe, but if I made some progress losing weight I would feel proud of myself, and be able to enjoy the time there.

My Program:
Going to the no-frills gym at City Hall as often as I can during the week. Walking and elliptical trainer for cardio, and weight machines for strength. I am trying to keep my calories to about 1300-1500 a day.

Personal Information:
Born in Florida, raised in Maryland, and now call my mom's home state of Iowa my home too. Educated in the Fine Arts, avid photographer; graphic designer was my last job. Starting up my own biz doing artist's books and graphic design.

Other Information:
I heart letterpress printing.

Well hello there! Thanks for the encouragement. I read and review books over at UrbanBachelorette.com that's my blog. I read a LOT! At least that's what the BF tells me and I have to agree. What kinds of books to you like to read? Read anything you'd recommend lately?

That's cool about Randy Pausch's mom being your teacher!
Sounds like he came from a great family...

I love prints! Never done it, though. I'm still kind of new to art (or at least it feels like it). I've done a bit of sculpture with my knitting and crocheting, and I've got plans for more. I enjoy being behind a camera, but it's not usually a huge draw for me. I've started dyeing fiber and yarn and designing knitting and crocheting patterns recently. (The dyeing, carding, spinning -- these I was, and am, smitten over!)

My husband is a sculptor, mostly using clay and wood. He really loved his printmaking class in college.
