Spreading the Spark to others through actions and by leading a healthy lifestyle.

I have changed my lifestyle for myself, lost over 95 pounds, and achieved goal weight, but also love being an example for others who do not believe that they themselves can do it. I have learned that one is capable of so much more than one often believes one's self is.

I lead a semi-hectic and crazy life as a Ph.D. student. I work typical work hours but also have occasionally found myself in the lab at 2 am or at 6 am on a saturday. Being a Ph.D. student makes life busy, and I ...

Being a Ph.D. student makes life busy, and I have adopted a healthier lifestyle while getting my degree.

I am now running distance races! I was one who swore they would never be a runner, let alone race, let alone run longer races. My first official race was a 10K in the beginning of march 2013, 1:03:53, after a soaking rain leading to a lil mud. I have since ran a virtual 10K, and am also doing longer runs in prep for my first half marathon May 19th, 2013! I am ready for it, bring it on!! I've finished 12.2 and 13.5 mi training runs w/o too much issue and am looking forward to the actual race!! I have a 5K race, The Color Run, 6 days after my half... but am quite excited for this smaller race too as I have gotten friends who are not normally runners to join me!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE getting my friends active with me!!!

After the challenge of adjusting to maintenance, I am now rocking it!! I have not varied from my range I set for myself since hitting my goal weight Jan 8th of 2013!!

My Goals:
I have reached my goal weight! However, I will continue to work on gaining more muscle and becoming more toned. I also want to be an example to my friends and family that becoming healthy and leading a healthy lifestyle is possible.

My Program:
I track my food and exercise regularly. I have been working on eating a variety of healthy foods, as I tend to get bored with food easily. I work out 6 days a week (a mix of cardio and strength training). I'm now rocking maintenance! :)

Personal Information:
I am a Ph.D. student studying pancreatic cancer, and have about a year to go until i get my degree.

Other Information:
I love cooking, playing video games, reading, doing crafts, working out, running, long-distance running ... and of course "playing" in the lab. :)

Congratulations on your weight loss and ESPECIALLY for doing it in a healthy way during this stressful time of your life! Best wishes for a long and happy maintenance. Remember: you don't have to do this "for the rest of your life"; just aim for, say, 75 years and then you can eat anything you want and be as sedentary as you choose to be!
