Hello and welcome to my page. : )

This is my story:
I used to weigh over 200lbs., and through determination, inner strength and focus, (plus a little help from a personal trainer) I got down to 137lbs., which was within 2lbs. of my goal weight of 135lbs. Unfortunately, I didn't achieve my goal weight because I became too comfortable with my body, but also lost my focus and determination; I was completing my final & fourth year of university followed by another year of my teaching degree. Between the stress of school and entering the teaching profession, I lost sight of my goals and vision of the toned and defined body that I dreamed of for so long.

At the start of 2010 I decided that this was going to be my year of positive change in all areas of my life. I didn't want another year to go by without making positive progress.

I joined Sparks 2 years ago in March, hoping that it would be the motivation and tool that I was looking for to help me to reduce my body fat, get toned and be healthy. However, I had a hard time committing and putting the time and energy into Sparks because I was dealing with some difficult issues in my life: the loss of three dear friends, a painful breakup, and family friend diagnosed with ALS, personal family matters and being unhappy in my professional life.

It seemed like everything was happening all at once. I had a hard time coping with it all. I became depressed and wanted to escape from life. Instead, I found the strength andcourage to treat myself to a 3 month trip to Italy & Paris. I left all of my worries and depression behind. I also didnít count calories, and analyze everything that I ate. I wanted to enjoy being in Europe, including eating gelato, pizza, pasta & italian pastries. This was probably one of the best partsí of my trip! lol. I don't regret anything. I ate in moderation (except when with family!), walked a lot but more importantly, smiled, laughed, socialized and even had a wonderful summer romance! : )

So here I am again - It's February 2010, two years after I joined SP I am ready to welcome healthy and positive changes in my life: personal, professional and physical. The past few years have been challenging & emotional but with the support and love from friends and family, faith (even though it wasn't always there) & prayer, I feel like I am finally getting to a place of inner peace and healing.

Update: I traveled to England & Italy for 7 weeks with a friend (May 3 Ė June 17) and didnít stay in touch with Sparks. It seems like I am always traveling but thatís not the case. : )

This time around I didnít gain weight but I still weigh the same and my body fat % is high. I donít want weeks and months to pass without making progress. I want to put the time and commitment into being a spark member, and doing everything that I need to do to be successful on my journey ~ I will blog often, track my food intake, start a journal, plan my workouts for the week, and reach out to other Spark members for support.

I'm excited about being a part of Sparks and reaching my goals with the support, encouragement and motivation from other Spark members.
