Mike's Progress Report

I discovered SparkPeople while surfing the web. It fits well with a quest I've been on for some time to get (and stay) in better shape.

I'm a lifelong student of strength training and fitness; an avid reader, husband and father.

I'm a weightlifter but also bike occasionally. I go to the gym and I am totally focused on my workout. I lift heavy and I keep a detailed log of my progress.

I discovered Mark Rippetoe's teachings one day while web surfing. I own his books and constantly refer to them for advice on lifting technique and "practical programming".

Losing fat is a goal but I find this is a yo-yo for me and I hate being an obsessive dieter. If i focus on building strength and muscle the fat comes off. I'd much ratherdefine myself as an athlete than a dieter.

I don't eat 9 raw eggs for breakfast. I was kidding about that. It was a reference to the scene in Rocky where he downs all those raw eggs then goes for a run.

I didn't see value in adding my menu to the list. There were already several good posts.

Thank you for your most kind words on the topic "Critical Mass Time".

As you probably have guessed, with over 800 responses, it's difficult for me to answer every one of the respondents, but I do open it and look occasionally when I see it close to the top of the topic list and I saw your response.

The first part of your habits are A.O.K. it's the second part of your habits/hobbies that you need to work on! I joke with some people that some of my old regular hangouts must be losing money now that I've been away for 14+ months! I imagine the beer truck drivers can take an extra day off a month now that I haven't had any in almost a year and a half!
