My husband and I have swashed our buckles a few times at the Portland Pirate Festival, and my pirate name is Iron Bess.

A few years ago on the day before my birthday, I received a scary medical diagnosis. I sure didn't feel like an Iron Bess then. I've realized with time, however, that I'm not defined by a medical condition, that I'm still a person with hopes, joys, dreams, abilities, good friends and family.

My Goals:
To weigh less each month for however long it takes to reach my goal of 125-130 lbs.

I've divided the total desired weight loss into smaller sections. The ticker shows the first 25 lbs. Seems less daunting and more achievable that way.




My Program:
*Ride exercise bike 1 mile or more four or more days a week plus occasional other exercise such as Wii, yoga, walking for variety.
*January 2015 start using ski machine 1-2 minutes 3-4 times a week increasing time as able.
*Core strength exercise with stability ball 3 times a week.
*Track food daily online or in a notebook
*Log in to SparkPeople daily
*Eat nourishing whole food, low fat, low or no refined carbs
*Measure waist 1st of every month and check in with Spark buddy
*Start the day with a cuppa and a little inspirational reading.

Personal Information:
My husband and I live in the Mountain West of the US.

Other Information:
I like skywatching, bicycling, lake kayaking, organic gardening, travel, crochet, archaeology, nature, movies (esp. foreign & martial arts), music (esp. world music, jazz). Began playing Native American flute last summer.

Good Morning IronBess! Thanks for the SparkGoodie! I have lost 30 lbs. I began my weight loss journey in October on my own. I did not start SP until very late December. My "ticker" only reflects the weight I have lost since joining! Have an awesome day...thanks for always being so encouraging!
