Thanks for answering me so promptly. I, too, am a stair walker, even in high rise hotels sometimes! However, I don't have the daily opportunity you do. I especially appreciated your gentle reminder about diet, which means for me a change in eating habits. No tricks or gimmicks, just eating less food, and substituting more vegetable for fat-laden "craved" foods.
I just read your post about 25,000 or so steps every day. Would you mind sharing your age (I read that you're a grandmother) and whether or not this many steps keeps you from gaining weight? My goal is to make even 10,000 every day, which is hard for me unless I take a 3 mile walk. I want to increase my daily activity around the house. Right now everything I love to do are sit-down activities.
I just turned 70 and being on my feet for a long period of time really messes with my knees and back (and has for many years). I'm 20 - 30 lbs. overweight, depending on which chart I use.
I'm trying to set the timer every time I sit down, and not stay longer than 20 minutes. I work for my husband, but it's all at the computer... so no getting up at all. It's pretty intense when he has a deadline.
