Does it seem and all you DO is THINK about losing weight and you try your hardest and NO MATTER WHAT, the weight does not come off and the more you try, the more FRUSTRATED you get.
Sound familiar, WELL, GUESS WHAT, that's where I've been for so long and I am to the point where I am saying to myself "enough is enough". I'M TAKING ACTION------------
I'm down to getting the last 15 pounds off. I have been trying to lose these last 15 pounds for the last 6 months or so (since Sep. 2008) . I'm telling you, I'm in a rut and need to do something to get it off. I don't know if it's the 'CHANGE" or what, but it's frustrating. I'm so routine oriented when it comes to getting my exercises done. I watched and tracked my food/exercises on Sparkpeople religiously. It has come to a point, where I'm just trying new routines, in the hopes that "SOMETHING" will kick in. I recently started spinning classes at the suggestion of a girlfriend. I do see some small results but it's only been a few classes. I am definitely going to continue with spinning. It's been a REAL "cardio & calorie burner" workout and I feel so GREAT and energized when I'm done. I've workout at my gym 4-5 days a week (member since 1993) doing strength training, spinning, and cardio. 3 days a week, I'm outdoors jogging/running with my girlfriend. The running helped me to lose 13 pounds and this is where I have been stucked. The scale has not been my "friend" but I can see that there has been some visual improvements and definitely my cardio endurance has greatly improved. I did run my FIRST 5k in Oct. 2008, at age 50 and ran it in 37 minutes after only training for about 2 months. The feeling and euphora I felt when crossing the finish line and seeing my family supporting me was just beyond words. I never in my wildest dreams, felt that I could go out and run a 5k.
There are times when I think, I'm in a point in my life where I can honestly say "I'm eating the best I can, exercising at least 6 days a week and still, the weight is not reflected on the scale. Can I blame it on the genes, childhood experiences, etc". Nope!!! A voice (chunky angel) lets me know that as you get older, you EMBRACE your body and have a mindset of staying healthy.
Today, I continue to stay focus and motivated in reaching my goal. I know I will get there. The feeling is, as long as I don't need any medications, have any illnesses and can wake up each day knowing I have been given another day to work on my goal, I'm here to stay and work on being the best I can be.
I welcome any feedback, suggestions, information that members of Spark People can share with me. I want to meet members with similiar goals in the hopes that I will learn and grow in my journey.
