I turned 65 on my cross country trip. Retirement from full time employment also kicked in along the way.

How much part-time work am I willing to do? Will I really start writing seriously and finish a novel that was started and set aside? Do I dare start cooking? Do I finally get in good shape since I will have plenty of time to go to the gym or run? Stress eating should be at least diminished.

I'm still trying to establish a retirement routine. The holidays and holiday guests have slowed this process. One thing I am doing is studying French for an hour a day with the hope of being somewhat fluent by the end of 2016. I'm not starting from scratch. I have a fair amount of comprehension but am lacking in my attempts to speak fluently.

I love this quote: "There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as if everything is." - Albert Einstein.

And this: "I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become." - Carl Jung

Final quote: "Some people create with words or with music or with a brush and paints. I like to make something beautiful when I run. I like to make people stop and say, 'I've never seen anyone run like that before.' It's more than just a race, it's a style. It's doing something better than anyone else. It's being creative."- Steve Prefontaine

    I just reread your introduction.

Thanks for continually inspiring. The roots I planted here at Spark run deep. I am not thrilled with my current weight because I feel like it holds me back and interferes with my energy and exercise. Its just those pesky 10 lbs...that are more like 14 lbs today due to weekend indulgences.

I look forward to your popping up to NYC. I would love to join you along the Hudson...lets just try to do it on a day when the wind isn't blowing too hard.

    Boom Chukka Boom!

Enjoy you upcoming travels and I know your retirement will be the beginning of new levels of fulfillment.

Thanks for bringing me over to Spark again. I still remember those stories you told me. I think of you each year during March Madness.

Hope you injury is better and your running brings you joy and strength.

Made my misogynistic crim law prof red in the face (after his unnuanced lectures on consent in sexual assault . . . ).
