I'm 70 and live in the Midwest most of the year, but usually head to south Texas or Arizona for some of the cold winter months. We have 3 living children, 2 DGSs, ages 10 and 7, and a grown DGD who just became mommy to our first great-grandchild, a girl!! Being overweight has been a problem for me since my last pregnancy over 40 years ago! I've probably lost 750 pounds in my life, only to put it all back on time and time again. Being overweight has been a problem for me since my last pregnancy over 40 years ago! I've probably lost 750 pounds in my life, only to put it all back on time and time again. I also have osteoarthritis and hauling all this weight around is not good for that. So, in the interest of preserving my replaced hips, enjoying life, and above all, being healthier, I'm working on improving my general health and becoming more active--would love to keep up with the grandsons for a very long time! SparkPeople is giving me that chance!

My Goals:
My overall goals are simple. I want to lead a healthier lifestyle that helps me to have the energy and enthusiasm to be active and happy. In order to do this, I will take off the excess pounds by eating healthier and exercising.

My Program:
My program is also simple:
1. I will eat within my daily calorie range and abstain from evening eating and snacking.
2. I will eat at least 5-7 freggies each day.
3. I will eat 3+ dairy products each day.
4. I will eat 2-3 protein servings daily.
5. The remainder of my calories will come in the form of carbs and occasional treats.
6. I will include strength and stretching exercises in my daily routine.
7. Every other day I will walk outside or work on the WATP video to increase my stamina and time. I will also use my pedaler on off walking days.
8. I will weigh in weekly and actively participate in the 5% Summer Challenge, as well as my team activities.

Other Information:
I love to read, do genealogy, sew and spend time outdoors. We garden a lot and I can and freeze the produce. We spend as much time as we can with the grandsons.

Good morning, Jeannie, my kindred spirit. There I was just about to log out of my e-mail, thinking, "Hmm, I wonder how Jeannie is doing," and poof, there you were. I was up at my mom's yesterday and got all her chores done and today I figure by early afternoon I will have gotten caught up with work, at which point I'm taking time off until Monday.
So here's the deal, my friend: We are going to shop for our healthy food this weekend, make up a few do ahead meals so we're not caught off guard, we are going to choose a fitness time and duration for each day and put it in our calendars, in ink, and we are going to focus on just this one week, nothing behind, nothing ahead. This is how we will get our engines going. Are you up for it? Oh, yeah, and we will kick each other's butts all the way to next Saturday!!!!
Let's rock this pound and show all the other dawggies we're not just trophy mates - woo hoo!!!
PLAY BALL!!!!!
Luv and hugs, Carol emoticon emoticon

Some days I seem to lose my mojo too - but it's always "just in the background" so I know yours will be back soon!

Never give up! Never surrender!!

Jeanne, Yes, we get used to just being a couple again, and it takes ENERGY to deal with other people who visit! We are excited today, our kitchen cabinets were delivered and installed! They are just beautiful! I took photos and will write a blog as soon as I get the photos downloaded to the computer! So exciting! emoticon

Jeannie, I hate to admit it, but my mojo got buried in a pile of paperwork. I have been swamped with work (nope, not retired yet) and it makes me very unhappy. I can handle medium amounts of work, but not mountains. I will be ahead of it by Friday, so I'll be sparkly again soon. I know I shouldn't let chaos get me either, but there you have it. We are two peas in a pod. So based on both our situations, we are going to have a stellar week next week and for the rest of the challenge. We are going to have time to plan and prepare healthy meals, time to crank up the minutes for fitness, and as a result, we will be happy, loveable dawggies. I cannot wait!!!!
Look out world, the Iowa and Ontario girls will be getting out there soon - emoticon
As Diane would say - huggers, my furry friend
