I'm 70+ and live in the Midwest most of the year, but often head to south Texas or Arizona for some of the cold winter months. We have 3 living children, 2 DGSs, ages 11 and 8, and a grown DGD who is mommy to our first great-grandchild, a girl!! Being overweight has been a problem for me since my last pregnancy over 40 years ago! I've probably lost 750 pounds in my life, only to put it all back on time and time again. I also have osteoarthritis and hauling all this weight around is not good ...

I also have osteoarthritis and hauling all this weight around is not good for that. So, in the interest of preserving my replaced hips, enjoying life, and above all, being healthier, I'm working on improving my general health and becoming more active--would love to keep up with the grandsons for a very long time! SparkPeople is giving me that chance!

My Goals:
My overall goals are simple. I want to lead a healthier lifestyle that helps me to have the energy and enthusiasm to be active and happy. In order to do this, I will take off the excess pounds by eating healthier and exercising.

My Program:
My program is also simple:
1. I will eat within my daily calorie range and abstain from evening eating and snacking.
2. I will eat at least 5-7 freggies each day.
3. I will eat 3+ protein servings daily, including at least two dairy.
4. The remainder of my calories will come in the form of carbs.
5. I will include strength and stretching exercises in my daily routine.
6. I will participate in the Silver Sneakers and water exercise programs at the Y 3-5 times each week.
7. I will continue to exercise a minimum of 10 min/day on days with no scheduled activities.
8. I will weigh in weekly and actively participate in the 5% Spring Challenge, as well as my team activities.

Other Information:
I love to read, do genealogy, spend as much time as possible with our grandsons and new great-granddaughter. We just moved to a condo last spring, so we're adjusting to having no outdoor responsibilities. We've rented a city garden spot for this year and we're looking forward to having plenty of fresh veggies!

Hi, Jeanne! We left Colorado this morning, and drove to Dalhart TX where we will say for 3 nights. We want to see day 1 of the XIT Rodeo. It is a 3 day rodeo but we have a lot of mowing at home, and getting home the 7th will have us away for a month and 2 days. The XIT is a tradition here in Dalhart, one of the oldest rodeos in the country. They feed a free meal before each rodeo performance! emoticon

Waiting for God is the one about the retirement home,my husband's least favourite is Keeping Up Appearances too but I love it. We also get British mysteries they are good too.If you ever get a chance to see it there is one that came after Are You Being Served Called Are You Being Served Again and it is hilarious too. They have all retired and bought into a bed and breakfast.

I thought it was pretty interesting to meet those people too! They own a group of cabins about a mile up the road from here, a main cabin (which they stay in) and several smaller cabins that are quite primitive. They rent the other cabins out now and then. I guess their family has owned those cabins since 1956! They were really nice people and invited us to stop by and see them! They came to the Saturday night potluck at our RV park last night, and we got to talking.... emoticon

Lol every now and again I'll watch the British comedies. They are quite funny.

TY for the kind words with the insurance company. I was starting to get very discouraged. I now have an action plan. Also having the screw out,,, it's starting to HEAL!!! FINALLY!! This is VERY ENCOURAGING!!! I'm actually hoping when I go to the hospital on Thursday for the first cast,, IF they do, my hopes at this point are strong on things getting done,, that they will say it doesn't need the chamber. I had to change the bandage tonight, it's not as deep as it was!!!

Hi Jeannie,,,something has to give in. I'm just frustrated at the refusal of the company to cover this. I'm totally prepared to lose the toe,, but is in the foot below it. No do not wish to lose the foot.

How r things going for you???
