I'm 70 and live in the Midwest most of the year, but usually head to south Texas or Arizona for some of the cold winter months. We have 3 living children, 2 DGSs, ages 10 and 7, and a grown DGD who just became mommy to our first great-grandchild, a girl!! Being overweight has been a problem for me since my last pregnancy over 40 years ago! I've probably lost 750 pounds in my life, only to put it all back on time and time again. I also have osteoarthritis and hauling all this weight around ...

Being overweight has been a problem for me since my last pregnancy over 40 years ago! I've probably lost 750 pounds in my life, only to put it all back on time and time again. I also have osteoarthritis and hauling all this weight around is not good for that. So, in the interest of preserving my replaced hips, enjoying life, and above all, being healthier, I'm working on improving my general health and becoming more active--would love to keep up with the grandsons for a very long time! SparkPeople is giving me that chance!

My Goals:
My overall goals are simple. I want to lead a healthier lifestyle that helps me to have the energy and enthusiasm to be active and happy. In order to do this, I will take off the excess pounds by eating healthier and exercising.

My Program:
My program is also simple:
1. I will eat within my daily calorie range and abstain from evening eating and snacking.
2. I will eat at least 5-7 freggies each day.
3. I will eat 3+ dairy products each day.
4. I will eat 2-3 protein servings daily.
5. The remainder of my calories will come in the form of carbs and occasional treats.
6. I will include strength and stretching exercises in my daily routine.
7. Every other day I will walk outside or work on the WATP video to increase my stamina and time. I will also use my pedaler on off walking days.
8. I will weigh in weekly and actively participate in the 5% Summer Challenge, as well as my team activities.


Other Information:
I love to read, do genealogy, sew and spend time outdoors. We garden a lot and I can and freeze the produce. We spend as much time as we can with the grandsons.

Good morning, Jeannie. It's about noon, but I haven't been up for very long. Woke up early, saw it was raining cats and dogs, pulled the sheet over my head and went back to sleep. Such decadent living...lol
The sun is coming out now and after some lunch I'll be heading out to do an hour of interval walking. I did that yesterday for the first time and loved it. Way less boring than plain walking and it's a great burn.
You did really well with fitness yesterday as well. What's the plan for today? Need a kick?...lol Whatever it is, have a great time, have a safe time!!!

How is it going for you today, Jeannie? Are you on fire yet? I gained a pound this week and I am totally upset with myself. I went out interval walking today (hubby is coaching me) and when I got back I forgot all about that pound and I'm ready to blast forward. I'm going to make the team proud of me again. emoticon

Sorry you couldn't see the moon! They say it is due to appear again in August (10th) and September (9th). They say the one in August is supposed to be even brighter, so maybe you can catch it then! emoticon

Actually, once I knew what the color of the cabinets would be, and what pattern the countertops were, I knew that the glass tiles would be too "busy"! I chose some porcelain tile in shades of tan and cream, and they look awesome. We got it all up and grouted today, hung the microwave and pushed the stove into place for the final time under it. That is all after laying floor to the point where it was under the stove space on the side wall. The kitchen will be done as soon as Matt puts the faucet on the sink and hooks up the water! I love my kitchen and can't wait to use it. Are you on facebook? I posted some pictures of my cabinets on facebook and will do the same tomorrow with the tile. I took pictures with my camera which was supposed to download to my computer, but it wouldn't download for some reason...... emoticon
