I can do it!

Okay, I've been lazy, but I'm really gonna do it this time. Not just to be pretty, but to feel good. I was so happy with myself right before I got pregnant. I want to be there again!!!

Okay, I've been lazy, but I'm really gonna do it this time. Not just to be pretty, but to feel good. I was so happy with myself right before I got pregnant. I want to be there again!!!

I've tried losing weight too many times to count. Sound familiar? I do good for a couple of weeks, then slack off. Sound familiar?

Well this is it - no more excuses - no more! This year I'm making a change. The time is NOW. I'm moving, my daughter is starting school, all these other changes are happening in my life. I don't want to be the fat mom - I don't want my daughter to be embarrassed by me when I pick her up from school or cheer her on at the school play or concert or ball game. I don't want to be out of breath when I'm playing with my daughter on the playground. I don't want to avoid taking her out in public because my self-image is too low.

I DON'T WANT TO THINK ABOUT BEING OVERWEIGHT 24/7 anymore. I WANT TO LIVE MY LIFE!

And I'm going to do it. This past Christmas I weighed in at my all-time heaviest - weighing in one day at 280. I saw it coming - I just never really had the motivation to turn it around. January 21st, 2011, I picked up my Six Week Body Makeover guide and logged back on to Spark (yes, I've been a member since 2006 - every time I dedicate myself to it, I lose weight. When I quit logging on, well, you know the results).

In the past 4 weeks I have lost a total of 10 lbs and almost 10". It's not the big bang start I was hoping for, but my effort has been half-hearted.

If you're not familiar with the 6 week body makeover, it's basically an eating plan aimed at working with and "stoking" your metabolism to get it to burn faster, along with a muscle TONING program to build lean muscle that helps burn calories.

I plan to just keep cycling the Six Week Body program over and over, making adjustments as my body shape and weight change.

I also plan to dramatically increase my outdoor activity this year - we are moving to a family-friendly outdoor-friendly area and there will be tons to do. I want to get a bike and be involved with my daughter and an active lifestyle ALL YEAR.

I plan to reduce my computer time - right now I spend a lot of my free time parked in front of it. That certainly isn't helping my metabolism, and what about all the stuff I'm missing out on!

When I first signed up, I set my Spark Page as "private" because I was embarrassed about how I looked and what my weight was. But then I realized, first of all, this is how I look in public, so it's no real secret. I also realized that if I want to succeed, I need to be able to talk about it, and how can I read all about everyone else's story and keep mine secret? That is not what community is all about.

So here I go, no-holds-barred, all in or all out. I am starting over and this time it WILL work because I'm sick of living like this. I plan to set small, challenging but attainable goals that are centered around an overall healthier lifestyle and healthier habits (not just a number-goal) and this year I'm going to be the ME that I WANT to be.

My Goals:
LONG TERM: Go from 277 (currently 258) to 160 by December 31st, 2011.

Medium Term: Lose an average of 10 lbs per month this year.

Short Term: Get to and stay below 250 by February 28th, 2011.

Quit eating the dissatisfying snacks and desserts just because I'm desperate to taste something sweet - opt for a sweet fruit or more filling snack.

My Program:
I am using the Six Week Body Makeover program as a basis for my meals, where based on my metabolism and body type, I am eating a lean protein and vegetable or lean protein and fruit for most meals and snacks, and a complex carbohydrate at lunch and before workout sessions.

I am modifying this to work around my career and busy home life.

I am complementing this eating program with a muscle toning program recommended by Six Week Body, that targets key muscles and strengthens and lengthens them to aid in burning fat as well as give definition and a solid foundation for my new body.

Hey thanks for stopping by my page! I stalked yours and wow, do we have a lot in common! I'm also big into the "crunchy" lifestyle, and we even have similar taste in movies and music!

I love your attitude! Reading your story was just the encouragement I needed after a yucky first half of the week, so thank YOU!

Welcome to 100 Plus Club! You’ll find plenty of support and encouragement here. No question is too stupid to ask, so post away and we’ll all put in our two cents worth. Utilize all the tools SP has to offer. I find tracking my food and exercise most helpful. Good luck on your weight loss journey!
