"I'm in repair, I'm not together but I'm getting there..."

My user name and page title come from one of my favorite John Mayer songs called "In Repair." I love music; I can always find a song that expresses how I am feeling. I think right now I really am "in repair;" I am trying to fix a lot of things that I feel are "broken" about myself (one of the biggest being my weight).

I stopped listening to my body whenever it came to food (how much to eat, what types of foods to eat, when to stop...). I have used food as a coping mechanism for a long time, even though when I am finished stuffing my face, I usually feel worse than whatever triggered the binge in the first place (funny how that works, huh?).

I have always focused more on the end result than the journey/progress (see my first blog entry), so this time I want to set monthly weight loss goals and just take it one day at a time, in groups of 30ish days. I don't really want to be thinking about "this time next year," I want to be thinking about this time tomorrow, next week, next month. I think by shifting my focus away from how long this is going to take, I stand a better chance at being successful.

Hi just been reading through your blog, I too eat for comfort when lonely/stressed/depressed and am back for help with my weight loss after putting back on some weight. It sounds like you have a great plan of action, good luck! emoticon
