(March 2, 2009) I've been "doing" low carb for a long time and have been pretty successful, but it's time to make a change. I've hit a plateau. What better time to renew my efforts than nine months before our next trip to Walt Disney World. Hey! Nine months for the re-birth of inkydinkydoo. And, what better place to do it than here at SparkPeople, with the nutrition and fitness trackers! I think I'm going to like it here.

(3 weeks later) What a difference three weeks at SparkPeople has made. I am still watching my carbs, but not as stringently as I used to. I've added more fruit to my diet (I was already eating green leafy veggies), and I've cut way back on cheese. I have to be honest, though. I am really missing the cheese, but it's so nice to have a bigger variety of fruit. I've even eaten a piece or two of whole wheat toast!!!! I had not done that in years!

I've also gotten back into the exercise and walking routine, and that's making such a difference in the way I feel. I've set a goal for myself of walking from Ohio to Walt Disney World, virtually, and I'm keeping track of the miles. I wonder if I can get there by this December. I guess we'll see. Stay tuned!

Make a Promise

Make a promise to yourself and keep it. There's something that you've always desired, and now is the time to make it real.

You are fully capable of reaching whatever you decide to reach. Promise yourself something wonderful, and then do what it takes to fulfill that promise.

Stop groaning about how unfair life is. Start making life into something grand and joyful.

Every problem is an opportunity to make an improvement. Pick a particularly vexing problem and promise yourself that you'll get triumphantly beyond it.

Find a dream that positively inspires you and promise yourself that you'll reach it. Make a serious commitment to the richness of your own life, and follow through on that commitment.

You can do it if you'll simply choose to do it. Make a promise to yourself, and make it happen.

My Goals:
I'm usng a virtual walk to Walt Disney World as my motivation and am posting my numbers here, to keep myself honest. My goal is to walk 900.90 miles, the distance between my house and Disney's Beach Club Villas.

My Program:
I'm walking every day, either outside or with one of several Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds or Walk Slim/Fast Miles DVDs.

I'm also doing a minimum of 10 strength exercises at least 4 days a week, adding more fruits and veggies to my diet, and keeping a close eye on my sodium.

You just gotta love the SP trackers!!

Personal Information:
I'm a 58-going-on-29-year-old female, who lives in southern Ohio. I have two grown children and four grandchildren and have been employed by the same university for 25 years. I'm also a Disney Vacation Club member, so the whole family usually travels to WDW every third December. Then, I go again the following Oct/Nov for Halloween and the Food & Wine Festival. Those trips are "Nanny and one special grandchild" trips; they each get a turn. You see, we're building memories that I hope will last a lifetime.
