Exercise is agony rather than ecstasy for me and that adage about "no pain, no gain" is abhorrent. Nowadays, I come to SparkPeople for a break and I try not to feel guilty when all I can do is grab a few login points.

To best address a lifetime with Cerebral Palsy I used to workout twice a day, six days a week, and do a deep stretching gentle warm-up routine on a weekend. I was strong and ferociously active in spite of a variety of medical issues.

To best address a lifetime with Cerebral Palsy I used to workout twice a day, six days a week, and do a deep stretching gentle warm-up routine on a weekend. I was strong and ferociously active in spite of a variety of medical issues.

Following a medical crisis, I was diagnosed with permanent injuries and nerve damage a few years ago, and gradually the workouts I relied on became too much as I struggled to control severe pain and all that can come with my physical circumstances.

Palliative care strategies and medication makes a life balance hard to find now, but I am relearning. I have given up my career, many of my outdoor hobbies, and my fitness routine to try to control pain without heavier doses of medications, medical complications and further immobility.

My Goals:
To live vividly, because dying of premature boredom does not appeal to me.

To stabilize my body as much as possible.

To lose the weight I have regained and to lose the weight that never left in the first place. :)

To be as fit as I was when I was 10 years younger and to gain the flexibility, awareness, and acceptance I will need to get 10 years older.

My Program:
If you need help dealing with nausea or lack of appetite, let me know and I'll share a decade of strategies with you.

Permanent injuries now mean I cannot workout in the typical manner with gym machines, swimming or biking.

I walk as often as I can. My lifting is limited to essentials under 20 lbs. so I modify DVD workout routines.
