Here's to a healthier, happier 2017!

I've made many improvements since January 1, 2010, when I first joined SparkPeople, but I'm still working to be a better me. This program helps me to focus more on my health, and I have made many great SparkFriends whose strength, motivation, and encouragement have helped me along this life journey.

Fitness Minutes: 39,090

My Goals:
~ Get down to a lower weight that will allow me to be healthier and have more energy.
~ Feel better about myself when I look into the mirror.
~ Learn to choose and eat heathier foods for a life-long lifestyle.
~ Keep a positive attitude.
~ Be at peace with myself and my surroundings.
~ For 2016: Journal everyday & bind at least one handmade book a week.

My Program:
~ Earn Spark points by using web search to access "The Daily Motivator" on -- a wonderful resource!
~ Get at least 8 hours of sleep per night.
~ Exercise for at least 10 minutes every day.
~ Use one type of my home exercise equipment at least 3 times a week for cardio or strength.
~ Stay hydrated.
~ Practice portion control without cutting out favorite foods.
~ Read motivational quotes and articles daily.
~ Remember to be thankful for the progress I've made so far.

Personal Information:
~ I am a retired public librarian living in the hill country in South Texas.
~ I have 5 active and growing-up-too-fast grandchildren who call me Nonna Lou.
~ An artist wanna-be, I sometimes see myself as mainly a collector of art and art supplies. I'm still working to change that image!
~ I enjoy book arts, mixed-media collage, calligraphy, reading, poetry, gardening, and tea.

    I found that when posting a blog, there is a provision for turning a photo. Not so on the other Spark locations. Thanks for the compliments on my deer skin shirt project!

    I was dressed the same for both weigh-ins. I suspect that the doctor's office digital scales are more reliable. My primary care doc and the surgeons' scales were both 196 a week aapart.

    YES! I caught that article on the foods which might trigger headaches.
    So far, I have not detected a pattern. I know that alcohol triggers an immediate headache. I can get away with only a few sips. Otherwise, the whole day is ruined. I would like to pin point additives and ignore the possibility of chocolate, but I don't eat much chocolate either. The fact that the migraines aren't triggered until the NEXT day is problematic, because I haven't been looking at the next day. So far, this month, I have been able to cut-off bad reactions before they become full blown migraines. So I won't have all the info I need!
