Running with perseverence

My name is Pearl. I am from Iowa. I've never really stuck with a good excercise program. I was in swimming in highschool, and that kept me in shape then. In the winter it is really hard to stay in shape if you not part of a gym. Its hard to want to go outside when its soo cold. . I'm really excited about finding this website. I'll just see how the next months progress.

UPDATE: July 7th, 2008
so I have been on this site for 2 months. I'm very proud of the progress I have made so far. Right now I feel like i'm starting to slip though. I can now run 2 miles without stopping, but when it is the the dead of summer, its not very comfortable to run. My family reunion is in 2 weeks! I would like to be able to lose 5 more pounds before then...cuz then my BMI would no longer be overweight!!! What an amazing thing to be. I'm right now wearing clothes that were once to small for me...but they are kinda snug, so its depressing to still be chubby, but no one said this was a fast progress, I just need to stay motivated.

Woah, we're half-way there
This morning I weighed 153 pounds. That is pretty exciting compare to where I was only 3 months ago. I was pretty doubtful that spark people could do anything, but it makes it sooo easy to get back on track with a day of "off eating" I haven't lost much weight this past much due to vacationing and summer laziness. I hope to get back in the mode. Today i did well...for a streak of um 1 day. Oh well, i love spark people, and I know i can lose more!! Here's to another three months!

Ok, so time to update, i Haven't been watching what i'm eating, but i'm back and ready to lose weight. I live in a dorm now, and find eating cafeteria food all the time hard to measure what i eat. but counting what i eat does work, even if very slowly. I'm going to work hard at this, and if anyone wants to be my buddy, I'm looking:)

Update: April 27th
Umm, food tracking...not so good, but fitness level is great, i ran my 1st 5k yesterday and did it in 33.27...now, thats over, back to policing what I eat....and i hope I can keep up my running level this way.

My Goals:
I would like to lose 30 pounds and not feel bad when i wear a swim suit because i love to swim. I have a pretty athletic extended family, and i would love not to feel self-conscious around them. My town has a 11 mile ride run, if i could participate in that, it would be awesome. My first goal is to be able to run a 5k. (Goal met April 25: River run 5k time 33.27)

My Program:
- I am on a low calorie diet,
- I will track all my food in the tracker
- Running 3 days a week
- weight training 3 days a week/ with some form of cardio
- 2 work out movies a week
- swimming every 2 weeks

and i plan a least 30 min of cardio excercise a day. I try to go running at least every other day, but so far I am not going very far @ a time...I am able to make about 1 mile without stopping..Now 3 for sure

I am from iowa, i am a nursing student.

Other Information:
I love Jesus! I love swimming. I like swing dancing.

Hi Pearl - hope you sleep well tonight. Last nite i slept 3 hours but i worked day shift today and before that i was on evening shift. i am taking sunday off as a personal day so i can do the race. i'm excited, scared and really nervous..butterflies in my stomach already.
i'll talk with you either tomorrow or monday..Wow, we are going to do it!!!!!! emoticon emoticon

Nice to hear from you - and 3 days, i know i'm so excited and nervous.
Did a practice 5k tues and will do one more today later. Have been bike riding a x 1hr 3xthis week. The weather here for sunday is forecasted to be 28degrees and sunny. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi PEARL - today i am doing a practice 5k and again sunday. Next week i'm doing a hard run wed 7k and fri a 3k lite run. Plan to do weights lite 3x next week and lots of stretching. Race day - i'll eat about 10 rice crackers with peanut butter and a protein bar after the race. Registration 08 and race 10am. Let me know what you are up to? I'm so excited......... Hi Pearl - i plan to do a practice 5k today and sunday. Next week i'd like to do a hard run on wed 7k and a lite run on the fri 3k and still to strength training and stretching 3x next week. The day of the race i plan to eat some rice crackers with organic peanut butter 30 mins before the race and a protein bar after the race. I have to register at 08 sunday and race starts 10 am----i'm so excited..... Let me know about what you are planning. Laura
