Shared Fitness Tracker
For most of my life I never really understood the value of being physically fit. I was a "husky" child, and slimmed down quite a bit in high school.
Then I went on to college. I was warned about the Freshman 15, but gave those warnings no mind. I went on eating and living it up as if weight didn't matter. Honestly, I didn't even really realize the weight I was gaining. Sure there were moments that I thought to myself, "Wow, I wish I looked like I did in high school". But those moments came and went without further thought being given to them.
What made things even worst was that i was working at the university's cafeteria. I had free food whenever I wanted and lots of company to enjoy the food with. Year by year i was adding on the weight. During this time I was giving plasma for extra money. One day while I was donating the nurse realized that my blood wasn't flowing at the rate that it should have for the amount of time I had been there. The nurse looked at my chart and saw my weight, blood pressure, and what not and proceeded to ask me what my diet looked like. After I had told her about working in the cafeteria and what we served there she warned me that i was in danger of developing high blood pressure because of my diet. That was all it took to break me.
After that point I started looking at myself, my lifestyle, and about my life in general. i came to the decision that I wanted a better life for myself; a life without disease caused by obesity. That was the last time I was at my heaviest, 252 pounds.
Since then, I tried adjusting what I was eating. I quit working at the cafeteria and began using the university gym. In the 2 years I had been at the university I think I had gone to the gym once. It wasn't easy getting used to. There were a lot of people there who looked better and worked out harder than what I was currently doing. I can honestly say I was very intimidated, and it took a while to get used to.
In July, I was going to the gym at least 3 or 4 times a week, running for 30 minutes every so many days, and was down to 210 pounds. Then I came across SparkPeople in an email bulletin from the university gym. Since I have started using SparkPeople I now run at least 30 minutes 4 or 5 days a week, as well as still doing some weight lifting. I'm proud to say that I have dipped below the 200's and am on my way to my goal of 160.
My goal is to be athletically fit enough to survive basic training, OCS, and AIT by next summer. I have plenty of time to do it and if I do it right I will hopefully soar through these challenges without a problem.
I run everyday (except for Sunday. I try to rest that day unless I'm bored, then I run). I lift weights and do core workouts on Monday, Wednesday, Friday.
I am tracking what I eat using the Nutrition Tracker, and have been striving to keep all fast food out of my diet. (Including limiting the amount of sit-down food places I may go to also.)
I'm 24 and a full-time college student from Texas. I enjoy Football (my favorite team is Univ. of Texas), and I'm starting to get into the "other football" more and more (Manchester City all the way).

Oh poor you! I couldn't live without my three channels showing nothing but football (the proper kind! LOL). So, you are not following the UEFA Europe League (and more importantly: Champions League) games then? I think you could probably watch them on Pay-Per-View.

Nope, no way, no how! ;) Ronaldo doesn't hold a candle to Messi, but more importantly XAVI!!! That's the key to their greatness.
Not even with the great Mou will Real Madrid make it this year, nope, not going to happen. LOL!
I'm no huge fan of Premier League (La Liga and Serie A are so much better! ) but if faced with a choice then I am partial to Arsenal. Maybe we could at least agree to intensely dislike Chelsea and ManU? LOL!
Did you see Man City play Juve last night? They need to do better, if they want to advance from the group. They let Juve dominate the game and the draw is no fair reflection of the game. Juve has an easy game next against Salzburg and City will play Lech Poznan, which has played pretty well so far. Going to be tough!
