What have you done today that moves you toward your goal?

My weight has been a series of ups and downs over the last 30 years. My focus now is eating healthfully, being consistently active in enjoyable activities, and letting weight loss happen at its own pace. I want to stay strong as I age through regular physical activity.

My Goals:
Immediate Goals:
~ Eat healthfully following the guidelines in the book "The Diet Cure" by Julia Ross.
~ Reduce sugar intake to once per month (or less).
~ Participate in physical activity at least 4 times each week.

Short Term Goal:
~ Gain enough strength in my shoulder to begin kettlebell workouts. (DONE) Kettlebells are awesome!

Bucket List Goals Related to Fitness:
~ Tap dancing lessons
~ Grand Canyon Hike
~ Appalachia Trail Hike

My Program:
~ Exercise including both walking (6-8 miles weekly) and strength training (2-3 times weekly).
~ Focus on eating adequate protein, fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

Personal Information:
When I was a camp counselor back in the 80's, my name was "Sparky"... coincidence?

Thanks for commenting on my blog. That is really interesting about the food combinations helping to sleep and "feel good". You are so right that it would be great if we could crave the healthy way to get what we need. I am definitely going to try to do some substitutions when I get those compulsions. Thanks again!

Congrats on being so close to out-shrinking everything! I figure I won't out-shrink everything until I get to about 40 lbs, so I am good for a while. I think I will need to go shopping right around Christmas.
