Top 'o the mornin' to ya.

Hi my name is Rita. Welcome to my Spark page. I'm 56 and feel very optimistic about finally making this program work for me. I joined in March 2009 and I'm still fighting the battle of the bulge.

I'm taking this one day at a time and my goal is to lose 10% of my weight initially. I'll celebrate every 5lbs gone. I won't say lost because you usually keep looking for whatever you have lost and I don't want those pounds back again.

I'm eating between 1200 - 1400 Cals per day. It's working so far. I used to think that was too little but SP knows what it's doing so I'll trust their expertise. I eat on a side plate, not the usual dinner plate. Seems to make a big difference. My brain thinks it's full a lot faster.

I set up a gym in my basement which is great. I'm watching Lost from the beginning while on my treadmill. I also do step aerobics, stretching on the ball and will be doing Zoomba.

Starting over again as of Jan. 1st.

Goals:
Shed 70 lbs for good!
Shed 1.5 lbs per week
Shed 10% of my body weight
Like what I see in the mirror
Have healthy, pain free knees
Lower cholesterol
Run a 5K, initially
Wear a size 6 (mamimum)
Look good in a bikini (probably won't wear one though)
Feel great about myself inside and out
Live to be at least 100 with a healthy mind and body!

My Program:
Tracking calories seems to be the way to go. And of course exercising at least 6 days a week.

I live in beautiful British Columbia, Canada. I was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and have been in Canada 36 years. I love Canada and Ireland, hope to go home to visit my mum this year, 2011.

Other Information:
Living in the boonies now, semi-retired with more time for me.

Thank you for taking the time to read and leave a message on my blog. I found it a hard blog to write as it rather laid me bare!! However I felt that, indeed I hoped that my honesty might help to rekindle the Spark in some and give hope to others!!
The reaction to the blog has been overwhelming.
Why overwhelming you might ask? Because I don’t believe that I am doing anything out of the ordinary!! I hope that the over-all message that you all took away from that blog is one of hope – that if I can do it – you can do it too!! Its not an impossible dream – it is something that anyone and everyone can achieve.

thanks ive gained some lost some on and off just wish it would stay off and lose more lol. yea same with me and my sister we dont see much of eachother shes busy with her life and kids and same here. keep up the great work ur doing amazing one step at a time.. :)
