Ready for the Next Challenge

I am excited about starting my second Spark People challenge. I met my goal of losing 12 lbs. in the 5% Fall Challenge and am looking forward to returning to the Starfish team for the 5% Winter Challenge.

For this challenge, I will continue to follow the Spark nutrition guidelines, watch my portions, eliminate sugar, rice, pasta and bread. I will eat plenty of vegetables, fruit, lean protein and healthy grains and stay within the ...

Winter 5% Challenge Nutrition Plan

For this challenge, I will continue to follow the Spark nutrition guidelines, watch my portions, eliminate sugar, rice, pasta and bread. I will eat plenty of vegetables, fruit, lean protein and healthy grains and stay within the 1200 to 1500 calorie range.

Fall 5% Challenge Exercise Commitment

I commit to exercising at least 60 minutes 6 days a week. I will do strength training DVD's and/or exercises 3 days a week and alternate between walking and bicycling 4 days a week.

My goals for 2015 are:

Be able to wear all the size large shirts and 18w pants that are hanging in my closet having never been worn

Be able to fit in rollercoaster seats

Have the strength and stamina to try Stand Up Paddleboarding








My Program:
Start tracking everything that I put into my mouth

Stay within 1500 to 1600 calories on the days I exercise

Stay within 1200 calories on days that I am unable to exercise

Plan my meals and exercise schedules in advance

Do at least 60 minutes of exercise daily

Take one day at a time

Hi. I am struggling with exercise. I did join team goals at the beginning of the year to motivate me to move more. One of them is to dance 15 minutes a day. I have flopped at that one until I discovered a 70's music channel on cable TV. I put that channel on and you can't help but move. That helped me.

For eating I have always tracked my food a week ahead of time planning my menu on Friday or Saturday. It really does save you $$ at the grocery store because you make a list and are only buying what you need, not this that or that because you don't know what you are eating that week and you may need it. I may make a quick trip to the store for milk or fresh fruit. It really makes you try and stick with what is on that menu. I live alone so it is easy for me to have a no junk in the house rule.

Hi. I have been asked to be your mentor for the 5% challenge. One of the leaders asked for volunteers to mentor the new members of the Starfish. I was writing comments on everyones page but they are having us do it this way instead. if there is anything I can help you with just let me know. I have been doing the challenges as a Starfish since 2012. I do enjoy them and find them motivating.
