Even though I don't actually put honey in my tea, this phrase embodies my desire to eat healthy, and eat in moderation, without sacrificing the things that make food enjoyable.
My goal is to simply Eat Less Food, as Michael Pollan suggests. This means controlling portion size. It also means that I aim to eat actual food. Food that "comes from the ground, or has a mother" according to Jillian Michaels. Reaching beyond that, I want to focus on eating sustainably: Organic. Local. Fresh. Simple. Free Range. Grass fed. Fair trade. Seasonal. I'm also working on exercising regularly, and losing the many pounds I put on over the years from a sedentary lifestyle. I want to be more mindfully active and develop habits that keep my body moving throughout the day, as well as habitually going for walks everyday. While I am also regularly hitting the gym, I am actively looking for a hobby that will engage my body and keep me motivated for the sheer pleasure of doing it, not just as a means to an end. About my icon/avatar: it's from a company in MI that produces organic, fair trade honey & preserves. I really like the company name, " Food For Thought" as well as their products. It captures where I want to go in my eating habits -- mindful eating, for myself and the environment. www.foodforthought.net
