Hi! :)

I just moved to Illinois for a new life and a fresh start, and just recently joined a Planet Fitness down the road, and I am beginning my training for my first Warrior Dash summer 2013. Love Sparkpeople for tracking food and exercise! Also am trying to use exercise as a form of self therapy for my anxiety issues. I am a social introvert, and I find it very hard to make friends and find myself avoiding social situations at all costs. Even going to the gym by myself recently is a HUGE step ...

Love Sparkpeople for tracking food and exercise! Also am trying to use exercise as a form of self therapy for my anxiety issues. I am a social introvert, and I find it very hard to make friends and find myself avoiding social situations at all costs. Even going to the gym by myself recently is a HUGE step for me. I promised myself that by moving to Illinois to begin my new life, I was going to begin my new "me" as well. I would love nothing more to have a group of girlfriends to hang out with, and do "girly" things with once awhile.
**Update March 2013- I have recently gone through a cancer scare, and also need to get my blood sugars under control or I am going to be a diabetic. Time to get serious and REALLY take care of myself.

We live so stinkin' close to each other!!! My house is less than 1 mile away. I'm in the neighborhood off of 35th Street - near the high school soccer field. lol

I went to Planet Fitness for the first time today! Showed up at 5:30am, did the 30 Min Circuit (COOL!) then 25 mins of cardio before I showered. I was so impressed with the place. There were only 7 cars in the parking lot at 5:30am. hahahaha, I was worried about it being crowded. Now that I've seen the early morning crowd & used the facility, I've officially upgraded to "Black". Want to meet next Tuesday at the gym? :) I don't have plans until the evening that night so almost anytime works for me.

Steph

Also... what's your first name? :) Don't make me say your handle in the middle of the gym.

I'm sure you could figure out that my name is Steph.

I see on your page that you "live down the road" from PF. HA - I bet we live really close. I live in one of the neighborhoods by Jefferson High School ... not far from where S. Alpine Road dead ends into Samuelson Road.

I was NEVER a runner until 2010 but I love running with a group now. Something about being out in nature & chatting about anything & everything out there makes time spent running with friends FLY BY!

Think about doing the Turkey Trot with your BF!!! It's a 5K trail race at Aldeen Park on Thanksgiving Day. You won't regret it, I promise it! It's a fun time. TONS of people & families come out and it's low key. Watches aren't allowed because if you guess your finishing time, you win a turkey. It's "single track" once you get into the woods so you can only move as fast as the person in front of you. It's only $10 & you can sign up on race morning. I'm volunteering for the race & doing onsite race registration but I'll be running it too. If for some reason we don't meet in person next week & you do the race, look for me! I'll be one of the dorks with a turkey hat on. haha. https://runsignup.com/Race/IL/Rockford/Roc

Good luck with the new job!

Sounds like we have similar goals!! That's awesome. I'm trying to get a group of friends together to do the Warrior Dash next summer as well. I did the Dirty Girl Run this summer and absolutely LOVED it. Ready to bump it up to the next level! ;)

Thanks for the update of PF. Good to know its not as packed as I thought! I already went to the gym in Loves Park today so I'm good for today.

Under normal circumstances, I work out before work in the mornings (so 6am-7am-ish). If earlier works for you, I would be willing to meet as early as 5:30am too. If I don't do it before work, it never gets done. I work too late, need to let out my dog, get hungry, feel full, want to unwind not get revved up, want to make dinner for hubby, etc etc -- I'm full of after work excuses for not working out in the evenings.

Since I have next week off, I can pretty much go whenever except parts of Monday & Tuesday eve. When do you go? I would love a workout buddy too! Even if we do different stuff, its always good to have sometime to feel accountable to. I could meet as early as tomorrow morning before work if you wanted!

Are you a runner? I also run trails at Rock Cut State Park with a group called the Coyotes at Rock Cut on Saturdays at 7am (sometimes Sunday instead). Maybe after we meet, you'll be willing to join us sometime!

Lemme know! :)
