Don't stuff your face. Face your stuff!

I'm a 30-yo single mom, bookish Minnesotan, and big coffee drinker who is looking for friends and support as I work toward being healthy and happier.

I've gained about 90lbs over the last 6 yrs & have been sporadically trying to take it off since my daughter was born in 2003. I was so worried that she'd be embarrassed of me and I wanted so much to take the weight off before she realized I was fat that I wasn't seeing the big picture. Now she's almost in kindergarten & I realized ...

I've gained about 90lbs over the last 6 yrs & have been sporadically trying to take it off since my daughter was born in 2003. I was so worried that she'd be embarrassed of me and I wanted so much to take the weight off before she realized I was fat that I wasn't seeing the big picture. Now she's almost in kindergarten & I realized that if I'd stopped gaining weight and lost just a small about of weight each year--even as little as 10lbs--I would already be at my goal weight.

So I decided: screw the 1lb a week thing. My main goal is to lose 10% of my weight each year until I reach my goal weight, which will take me a full 5 years. Maybe I will lose more in the first year, or all of it in a couple of years, but the idea of 10% a year seems doable and realistic, and I feel really confident about it!

Long term:
*Lose 10% each year until I reach my goal..
*Reach goal weight of 136 lbs. by July 1, 2013.
*Lower my cholesterol.
Short term:
*Go to Valley Fair and ride the rides w/o feeling squished and tired.
*Stop avoiding pictures.
*Stop avoiding public places/social gatherings.
*Cut out diet soda.
Daily:
*Drink at least 64ozs water
*Eat 1600-1800 cal.

Hello Non-Existant Partner!!!

Well, couldn't wait until the weekend and had the candy for a snack yesterday. LOL. Managed to stay in my calorie range anyway though. Yay. Did 30 minutes of a workout yesterday, but that was it. Only walked to the store and back. Up days and down days right?

Olivia and I ate breakfast and now we are going to walk over to Angie's house and then go see Papi. Call me or post. ~Becca

PS: I weighed in a gain this morning at 177.5. Again, still waiting until next Monday for an official weigh in, but wanted to let you know you are being SPANKED. emoticon

Ok stranger, I am beginning to wonder where you are!

Yesterday was a bit harder on the eating. I was really craving sweets. Didn't give in though. Decided to have it as a reward on Sunday for being good all week. I also didn't do a DVD workout yesterday. Olivia and I walked to her Gymnastics class and back instead! It was a 30 minute walk there and a 30 minute walk back. Whew.

We are having a bowl of oatmeal right now, and then we are going to walk over to Papi's house and hang out for a bit.

How are things going on your end? I need updates!! Call me or post! ~Becca

I had a pretty good day yesterday. I walked to the New Edition and back yesterday AM, and then did my 40 minute Cardio Salsa workout after lunch. I stayed in my calorie range even though I went a bit over the 1200 mark. I didn't get an evening walk in though because it was already dark by the time dinner was done. I still got about 80 minutes of activity in yesterday though, so that was good. I also got all of my water down plus some! Woot.

So far today Olivia and I walked to library time and then went for a 30 minute walk after it was over. We just had lunch and we are going to walk up to the store to get a drink. I am using my daily Diet Pepsi fix as my workout motivator for now. I think tonight I will take the evening walk before dinner that way I can for sure get it in.

PS: I weighed in again this morning, habit, anyway scale said 178.5. I am not officially entering anything though until my weigh in next Monday. Just thought I would let you know though so you understand that I am going to WIN!!! emoticon

Ok Sister, I am starting today. Call me when you roll out. I just weighed in at 180 lbs. Boo. :) I suppose I could look at it two ways. I gained a whole pound since I last weighed on July 1st, OR I ONLY gained a pound since I last weighed. Hee hee.

Just ate breakfast, oatmeal with raisins. Yummy. It was cold here this morning and it sounded good. My eating plan is 1200 calories a day, and I am going to try and only eat carbs at breakfast and lunch. Going to try and keep dinner very low carb to no carb. I am going to make taco soup for dinner. Again with the cooler weather it sounds yummy to me.

As for exercise my plan is to try and get a little bit in the AM, probably walking with Olivia and then do an exercise video or some sort in the afternoon, and then a short walk again with Olivia before bed each night, weather permitting. I know it seems like alot, but I am not talking about crazy kill yourself walking here, just nice enjoyable kind.

I and am going to put Olivia in the stroller and walk to Papi's house. I am also going to attempt to motivate myself to do my Cardio Salsa workout this afternoon. Allie and Colby are supposed to be here to maybe Allie will do it with me. Or Colby! emoticon
