I am a binge eater. I have learned that food is a drug to me. But unlike alcohol or other drugs, I actually need food to survive. That leaves me with a dilemma. I have to learn what my trigger foods and my trigger situations are so that I can prevent binge eating episodes. Bingeing makes me feel sick and fat and even lower than I did before the binge. What I have come to realize is that I also need to confront the reasons I feel the urge to eat.

I want to eat healthy and exercise and still live my life. I have finally learned to forgive myself for the occasional slip in emotional eating. I have developed a system of rewarding myself with items other than food. No longer will I use any food product (healthy or otherwise) as a motivational tool. It is eat to live, not live to eat from now on.

I have gained back some of the weight I lost since joining sparkpeople and I know it is time to get back on track. Instead of focusing on my failures, I will focus on my successes. And my main decision is that I will do monthly weigh-ins. No longer will I weigh myself once a week. I have become a slave to the scale. I have found that when the numbers don't go the way I want them to, I sabotage myself and overeat. So I will focus on the physical changes my body is going through. I will exercise, eat healthy, and stop living by the numbers.

2009 Goals
~ to work out at least 30 minutes every day
~ to eat 5 serving of fruits and veggies every day
~ to stay within SP's desired sodium range every day
~ to do 1500 minutes of cardio every month
~ to complete the hundred pushup website challenge (http://hundredpushups.com/index.html)
~ to only weigh in once a month

Motivational Rewards:

Exercise:
- 3 weeks in a row of working out at least 5 days a week for an hour: new piece of workout equipment
- 6 weeks in a row of working out 5 days a week for an hour: new outfit
- 3 weeks in a row of eating 5 servings of fruits and veggies a day: new workout DVD
- reward for completing 100 pushup challenge: massage
- go 21 days without a binge: new pair of jeans
- log my food for 2 weeks: new book or DVD

When I do reach my goal weight, I intend to treat myself to a spa day: massage, manicure, and a pedicure.


Things I do NOT miss about my former self:

1. how I looked in pictures
2. feeling out of breath from walking up one flight of stairs
3. feeling sick to my stomach from too much bad food
4. lack of confidence in how I looked AND in what I could accomplish

Wt: 161.4 (down 8.8)
waist: 34.5" (down 3 inches)
hips: 41.75" (down 2.75 inches)
thigh: 24" (down 1.25 inches)
chest: 33.5" (down 1 inch)
bust: 39.5" (down 1.5 inches)

***In the last 2 months, I have lost eight pounds and 9 and a half inches all over! I will probably report again once my current eight week challenge is over.

Personal Information:
I live in Marietta with my wonderful new husband. Trying not to be one of those people who gain weight after the wedding. I am determined to continue all of my hard work.
