I did it!
Java Turtle & Pooh Bear at Blackwater Falls.
Java Turtle, or Mary if you please. I''m a 51 year old cranky turtle from West Virginia. I have a very daunting amount of weight to lose, and some times that can be very discouraging. I''m living with Type II Diabetes and M.S. (Multiple Sclerosis). These health issues (diseases) should not hinder my weight loss or exercise effort, but I''m hoping they''ll actually SPARK my motivation to lose the weight for my health, before it''s too late. I don''t know how many "wake-up" calls I''ll need before I stop hitting the "snooze alarm" of life.
PS: I''m married to my best friend, Jay, or as I call him: Pooh Bear. So loving, so supportive. I couldn''t ask for a bretter partner in life.
You can find a video of my cat, Vinnie, doing his trick here (You Tube): http://www.youtube.com/Hotcupojava
To lose my excess weight, be healthy, happy and fit into my uniform.
My diet seems to be the biggest challenge. Am I ever going to be successful at losing weight? It's been a life long obsession/journey. I get so tired of trying.
But, I have a great support system in place. I'm on a streak with Wii Fit, Wii Sports. Wiiiiiiiiiiii!!!Go Turtle Go!
Call me Java or Java Turtle, but I'll answer to Mary, as well. I'm from northern West Virginia, and so far .... (fingers crossed) I've lived here all my life. I just moved into a brand new house about two weeks before Christmas (2006) and I'm loving the new digs. I even set aside the back bedroom for my gym. It's got a motor-less dreadmill, an elliptical, a recumbent bike, a stepper, a prickly exercise ball, over 100 videos and DVD's and other odds and ends too numerous to mention (like hand weights and other exercise devices). You'd think with a gym like that, I'd be a slim, trim turtle. But you actually have to go in there, better yet ... EXERCISE! I'm trying to make it a habit.
I also love my Wii, my Wii Fit and all the "get off the couch and play" games that are made for the Wii System.
I love the Canadian pop group, Barenaked Ladies. Okay, more of an obsession with them. Odd for someone my age, but I can't help it. I love everything they do. Their music has actually fueled nearly all my exercise efforts. On the bike, on the track, on the dreadmill... they're in my headphones. If I ever lose this excess weight, I'd love to thank them for that. Thanks in advance guys! So sad that Steve left the group. I hope all goes well. I NEED them to continue making music.
I also love playing on my Wii and my computer reading horror novels, and doing ANYTHING outside (camping, biking, hiking, walking, fishing, boating etc).
