I landed here by Devine Intervention when a goggle search brought me to a message posted by DELBY68.
Every thing on this site is a first for me so please be patient with me as I learn my way.

WHY DEVINE INTERVENTION
A Mom at 17 and 17 yrs later a single mother of 5 (2 of them 5 and a half months old) and their sole support, I had no time to give much thought to anything beyond food, housing and clothing for my family. Luckily I did not need to as I had never weighed more than 110 lbs in my life except for 9 month intervals.
At age 49 with only my twin girls left at home I married again to a wonderful man. Two years later with both girls gone, we moved from TX to OK and He taught me to drive an 18 wheeler. After 8 years as O.T.R. coast to coast team we retired due to his health and I found that age and lifestyle had me weighing in at 160 lbs.
Not a problem as my health was good and we were enjoying our life~~~~ 10 more years of ignorance and a more sedate lifestyle brought minor health problems. A stroke was overcome w/ minor damage to my right hand and a Gaul blabber removal. Then the biggie!~~~Three and a half yrs ago I lost circulation in my left leg! The scheduled removal of my leg was postponed due to an emergency w/ another patient(another of many Devine Interventions in my life) allowing time for the pulse to return and a phemorial by-pass saved my leg.
Shocked to find my weight at 196.5 lbs and Pre Diabetic, a friend loaned me a book called "Sugar Busters", a glycemic index guide. Still ignorant of calorie counting, portion control and exercise, I lost 66.5 lbs in one year with only the book, bringing sugar levels back to normal and solving a life time of hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) problem.
Slacked off and gained 35lbs back in just a few months. Went back "on the wagon" and another Devine Intervention brought me to this wonderful site where I'm learning to manage my life!

Fitness Minutes: 30

My Goals:
To learn to manage my life with diet and exercise in such a way that will avoid future health issues and solve the ones that ignorance has brought me to. Perhaps with added bonus of getting off percription drugs.


My Program:
Four lifetime firsts for me!
1. Drinking water instead of coffee, tea & pop.
2. Planned exercise. Walking and Curls so far.
3. Calorie counting. Much to learn here!
4. Weighing food for portion control.
Still need to devlope habit of daily tracking.



Personal Information:
I live in SE Oklahoma, have 3 sons and 3 grandchildren near by, 2 daughters,g'children and g'g'children in Texas and twin daughters and g'children in NE Idaho.
We have a 15 yr old dog & 2 of her 9 wk old gggrand pups. Three cats and15 chickens.


Other Information:
Love gradening, learning new things, reading most any thing except westerns and Hariquin. Most movies. Not into soaps or my hubby's love of sports.

    Thank you so much for your comment to my page this morning! I so VERY much appreciate it. There are some days when I'm feeling down and today was one of them, so your comment cheered me up right from the start. Hope you are feeling better and will be on the site more. Actually, I am still weighing in as of yesterday at 154... so you're ahead of me. I've slimmed down a lot though with the 8 lbs that I've lost and the exercising. I just need to nudge the needle on the scale more! Oops... it's digital... no cheating allowed! Just kidding! emoticon
