Today is the First Day of the Rest of My Life!

Hi, I live on the Oregon Coast but was raised in TEXAS! During my husband's 20 years in the military (including time in Iraq), we spent most of his career in San Antonio, TX. When he retired, we came to live in his family home in a very rural area. The nearest town is 10 miles away on windy roads and the nearest big city is 2 hours away. Our greatest joy is sitting in the early morning and watching the deer or elk roam through the property. Unless of course they go after my husband's corn ...

We have been married for 37 years with 3 adult kids and 8 grandkids.

My Goals:
To lose 30 pounds (doctor ordered) and to be in good health.

My Program:
I'm tracking what I eat to make sure I'm eating. That's why I can't lose weight!. I rarely eat carbs, NO sugar, less caffeine, and watch the fats. My downfall: not taking time to eat right, so just grabbing anything, or skipping. So, I must be thin right? HA!!! Think again!!!

Personal Information:
Our 8 grandkids are the love of my life (all under age 10), after my hubby of course. We just added #8. With my health going nuts, I can't get out and play with my grandbabies like I used to. This past year (2007) I was diagnosed with Myotonic Dystrophy, which may include Endocrine Diseases, Cardiac Issues and Cognitive Deficits, all of which have bounced my way in the past 2 years. I always thought getting older would be a breeze (I'm a "young-at-heart" 60yo) as except for a battle with cancer when I was 27, I've been really healthy. Now, I'm feeling mad and anxious about my health.

Other Information:
I love reading fiction, especially history-based books. I used to sew a lot but now have no time. I love to watch romance drama movies, and my sweet husband indulges me! Genealogy is my passion!!!

HI my name is Kathleen, I am in Florida--also 59 and counting! weight loss has been a problem for awhile--I joined here in 2007 and did not stick to anything--so I am back and trying to keep going in the right direction! My problem food is ice cream and bread--and my cholesterol levels are reflecting that too!

Take care--nice to meet you! Come join some of us who write daily/weekly on the august chat!
