Hi My name is Holly and I am 49 yrs old and have been with Spark People for over 2 1/2 years. What a time it has been. I never thought I could really lose 40 lbs when I started but I was going to give it a good try. Well here we are a couple of years later and I have gone past my original goal of 36 lbs and have lost a total of 45 lbs! And maintained my 40 lb loss for the last year. I have run in 5 different 5K's since last July. Thanks to all the wonderful people that I have ...
Thanks to all the wonderful people that I have met along the way and have cheered me on to lose the weight and to provide the support. Somehow I feel like I can't let my friends down on this site which then spurs me on to go exercise if I am thinking twice about it. Let's keep up the great work my wonderful spark friends, together we can do anything!
Goals for 2015 Continue to maintain! Run more 5K's Run at least one 10K Continue to train and run weekly for longer distances. I can do it!
My goal was to lose weight, and to get in great shape. I can run for the first time in my life. Spark people has helped me lose over 40 lbs. I plan on traveling all over the world as time permits so I want to be in the best shape possible to climb stairs and ruins no matter where we go.
Cardio at least 6 days a week for 45 mins to an hour. I have come to love exercise and look forward to it and really do think of it as "me time". I will add in more strength training this year and continue to train for another 5K. Inclines on the treadmill are great workouts so I will add them in on non run days as well as the elliptical.
I live in St. Paul MN. I have been married for over 29 years to a wonderful man that is extremely supportive no matter my size or weight. He has always loved me for me! I have sparked him as well to watch what he eats and how much, he is not as crazy about it as I am but baby steps are great!
I have 2 beautiful daughters. My oldest just graduated from college and my youngest is a sophmore in college. They are both naturally thin girls and I am so glad that they inherited their fathers metabolism! They are very supportive of me and my healthy life style change and willing to try new recipes as long as they aren't too crazy. Of course, these are girls that grew up eating octopus and squid so they are pretty brave eaters!
I'm so glad the school worked with me too. It gave me a huge sigh of relief!! They were VERY willing to work with me and have kept me in the loop on everything and made themselves extremely accessible to me for the future if anything comes up. I let my daughter know how brave she was and how proud I was that she was honest with the principal and director. I also told her on behalf of those other girls "Thank you" because she was so brave for bringing up the issue and if she hadn't, those girls would still be feeling alone and bullied. She hadn't thought about it that way until I said that and that made her feel even better.
It's a shame girls are like that, but they are and have been forever. I even told her that they are like that and things can be good one minute and bad the next, but that she could always talk to me about it and I would always be there to listen.
THANK GOODNESS THEY GROW OUT OF THIS!!! Thanks for your comment on my blog. I have gotten so much support and well wishes for both me and my daughter. It really means a lot. It really is tough being a parent. My mom never told me that LOL!! Steps have been taken and I'm going to blog about it tonight to watch for it.
WOW! Thanks for your comment on my other blog as well. Talk about support!!! I actually held my head a little higher when I read that so thank you very much!! You have a WONDERFUL evening!!
Take Care Of Yer Friends Friend is a word that I don’t throw around Though it’s used and abused, I still like the sound. I save it for people who’ve done right by me And I know I can count on if ever need be.
Some of my friends drive big limousines Own ranches and banks and visit with queens. And some of my friends are up to their neck In overdue notes and can’t write a check.
They’re singers or ropers or writers of prose And others, God bless ‘em, can’t blow their own nose! I guess bein’ friends don’t have nothin’ to do With talent or money or knowin’ who’s who.
It’s a comf’terbul feelin’ When you don’t have to care ‘Bout choosin’ your words or bein’ quite fair ‘Cause friends’ll just listen and let go on by Those words you don’t mean and not bat an eye.
It makes a friend happy to see your success. They’re proud of yer good side and forgive all the rest And that ain’t so easy, all of the time, Sometimes I get crazy and seem to go blind!
Yer friend just might have to take you on home Or remind you sometime that you’re not alone. Or ever so genfiy pull you back to the ground When you think you can fly with no one around.
A hug or a shake, whichever seems right Is the high point of givin’, I’ll tell ya tonight, All worldly riches and tributes of men Can’t hold a candle to the worth of a friend.
