Hi My name is Holly and I am 49 yrs old and have been with Spark People for over 2 1/2 years. What a time it has been. I never thought I could really lose 40 lbs when I started but I was going to give it a good try. Well here we are a couple of years later and I have gone past my original goal of 36 lbs and have lost a total of 40 lbs! And maintained my 40 lb loss for the last year. I have run in 5 different 5K's since last July. Thanks to all the wonderful people that I have met along the way and have cheered me on to lose the weight and to provide the support. Somehow I feel like I can't let my friends down on this site which then spurs me on to go exercise if I am thinking twice about it. Let's keep up the great work my wonderful spark friends, together we can do anything!
Goals for 2015 Continue to maintain! Run more 5K's Run at least one 10K Continue to train and run weekly for longer distances. I can do it!
My goal was to lose weight, and to get in great shape. I can run for the first time in my life. Spark people has helped me lose over 40 lbs. I plan on traveling all over the world as time permits so I want to be in the best shape possible to climb stairs and ruins no matter where we go.
Cardio at least 6 days a week for 45 mins to an hour. I have come to love exercise and look forward to it and really do think of it as "me time". I will add in more strength training this year and continue to train for another 5K. Inclines on the treadmill are great workouts so I will add them in on non run days as well as the elliptical.
I live in St. Paul MN. I have been married for over 29 years to a wonderful man that is extremely supportive no matter my size or weight. He has always loved me for me! I have sparked him as well to watch what he eats and how much, he is not as crazy about it as I am but baby steps are great!
I have 2 beautiful daughters. My oldest just graduated from college and my youngest is a sophmore in college. They are both naturally thin girls and I am so glad that they inherited their fathers metabolism! They are very supportive of me and my healthy life style change and willing to try new recipes as long as they aren't too crazy. Of course, these are girls that grew up eating octopus and squid so they are pretty brave eaters!
Holly, "So, here's to us. Here's to ordering a salad when we want a burger. To making an ass out of ourselves in cardio hip-hop class. To drinking more water than seems humanly possible. To going 5 more minutes on the elliptical. To working twice as much as your skinny roommate. To saying "screw you" to the old you. To following in love with the you who you really are, the you that you want to become. To looking in the mirror and not seeing any change, throwing on your running shoes, and working out anyway. To looking in the mirror and seeing major change. Here's to carrots, shin splints, and sweaty t-shirts, and perseverance, and all things fat-free, and sore muscles, and stinky socks, and 7 a.m., and spin classes, and falling down, and getting back up, and bottled water. Here's to us for getting up everyday and doing it all over again. Here's to us."
Hi Holly! Just got back from CA and visiting my family. Had a wonderful time, but always nice to be home! We are heading out of town to visit my daughter this weekend and celebrate her birthday a little early. Looking forward to the drive in the country and spending time with her. Been thinking about you and hope all is well!
